Rotten Apples I had an interest in decomposition and how it can help the earth and the world become a better place. The environment has a big issue when it comes to decomposition. The environment is a big issue when it comes to decomposition. I begin to think if the worms in our soil could decompose faster would that possibly help us with space for the wasted land we use for the trash. After a little research what was hypothesized was that the night crawlers would make the apple decay faster because they are a special breed. For the experiment I bought two types of worms; Canadian night crawlers and red worms. I made sure that both worms were containing the same amount of soil, and same brand of soil. Next I bought one apple and cut in half and placed two slices into each container, containing the two different types of worms. Every three days would record the growth of the mold or anything that’s changing about the apple. At the end of the experiment the hypothesis that was created was correct which basically stated that the apples that had the night…show more content…
Also used in the experiment was two different types of worms. The first type was Canadian Night crawlers, and the second type was red worms. The sliced apple was placed into two different containers. The Canadian worms were placed into one container with the half of apple, and the red worms would be placed in the other container with the other half of the apple. Day by day I kept an eye on the apples, and the first couple of days they looked like they moving at pretty much the same rate until about that third day you could see the apple that had the Canadian worms on it was starting to decompose quicker than the other piece with the red worms. The night crawler possesses traits that the red worms don’t, I don’t really know exactly what it is, but it has something to do with what the night crawler gives off that makes the apple decay at a more rapid
