They are able to transform with the help of imagination, and our ability to spontaneously generate images within out mind. It helps provide meaning to experience and it is a fundamental facility through which people make sense of the world, and keeps us able to manage our lives. Landscape in our minds is not what we literally see, but how we want to see things. As life is experienced, it is interpreted via our senses; as such it is perceived by contrast to most thoughts and imaginings. In fact, reality leaves a lot to the imagination and mind to process what is concrete into something more dimensional.
Explain the processes involved in how one senses the world around them (sight, touch, hearing, etc). There are many processes involved in how we sense the world around us. LeFrancois (2011) described these processes best when he said “our senses are our brains window” (sect. 3.1 para. 1).
The Gestalt psychologists stated that when people interpret sensory elements, they tend to see things in the entire form or a pattern rather than as individual, separate entities. When the brain interprets things in groups and arrangements, it allows itself to make sense of an entire object. The brain likes to operate with simplicity; therefore, seeing a group of objects as one whole entity lets the brain function more efficiently. The Gestalt perspective can explain these basic principles of perceptual organization: figure-ground, similarity, proximity, and closure. The first principle is figure-ground.
It is not a coloured painting with too much going on which gives the reader no time to pass judgement on the man in the picture. The eye was not drawn to one thing in the painting, in fact, all of the different aspects of the ad itself make the painting more effective. The pieces by themselves would lose the emotional connection to the reader. The fact that the colors and lines work so well together further your connection to Whitman as a human being without the nature around him, he would not have much of an effect. You take the painting for what it is because it shows natures indistinct lines and natural
Many believe art is created as a means for discussion, but Pérez-Reverte illustrates the self-serving aspect of the artistic community as well. As previously mentioned, none of Faulques’ painting is meant for any other viewer other than the Painter of Battles himself. Pérez-Reverte uses this device to portray the self-centered nature an artist can have and the pitfalls such an attitude brings to the table. If Faulques continued the way he had been painting since he started, it is likely his goal would be further from his reach than ever. Despite the fact that his true intent would never be seen if he displayed it for the public, Faulques’ painting would flourish beyond its inception with each idea a viewer births upon seeing it.
Displaying empathy means that you are truly able to imagine what it's like to stand in someone else's shoes. Clark (2004) discussed that contended that a person has the capacity to direct empathic understanding to his or her own frame of reference. Through a sensitive attunement, an individual is able to empathically sense his or her own subjective internal state. In an immediate context, a person's reactions assume the form of hunches and a flow of inner feelings. In this mode, experiencing includes such reactions as
By using the two different point of views, it can describe the author’s feelings while also portraying what is happening in the passage. S’evign’e also uses negative connotation to portray her feelings towards the Marquise. When the Marquise had stepped off the scaffold, she showed no “fear” or “emotion,” as she lived her life, when performing this action. This gives a darker impression of the Marquise. Living without fear in a positive way would give the impression of someone being brave.
Pink gains a sense of trustworthiness through his use of credible sources. On the other hand, Babauta has no credibility in his lackadaisical methods, only showing what he does with no belief of success. Not everybody trusts paintings, but people believe photographs. The two authors use different types of diction. Some examples are seen in Pinks essay when he says “Have I eradicated all unproductive behaviour and become a self-disciplined, self-actualizing machine?”(2).
This raised the question, how can the primitive be so contemporary at the same time? I felt like the room and atmosphere that the AGO created made Henry Moore's sculptures contemporary by placing them in a room with dark tiles, white walls and sun lit room. Although the sculptures themselves are historic pieces, they are modern through their relation to life today and people's appreciation for them. This includes their interaction with the exhibit and art gallery as a whole. Henry Moore - artifact and artwork, engage for us to see.
It is said to enhance an individuals concentration while increasing responsiveness to suggestions that are made, in order to make changes to the way a person thinks about a particular thing, to change a physical state or to a person’s behaviour. (Hadley and Standacher) Spiegel
