I think by having a random selection it allows the students to use their communication skills with one another. But on the other hand you would like to live with someone that respects your belongs and you feel some what comfortable. Not being matched with the same person can give you and that person time to bond and learn different things about one another. For example, if you rooming with the popular cheerleader, or and artistic student on campus, you may find out that you have more things in common than you think you do, and they may not be the person you thought they were. In her article, Dowd argues against the use of such application like RoomBug and website like URoomSurf.com by claiming that, first of all, being able to choose their own roommates would block out the opportunity for students to mature socially.
Living in a dorm vs. a commuter Living in a dorm was an experience that I always wanted to encounter. Students have the opportunity to live on campus and learn how to be responsible on their own. They are away from family and friends, its new and exciting at times. Commuting to school can be nice because students can be home with family and friends. Students are able to do much more because they are home and not living on campus where there are a lot of rules.
Try different calendaring systems and see which one is best. Always plan ahead on assignments and studies because then we will end up procrastinating and the results will not be good. Have some time for yourself to relax and go out with friends because college can be very exhausting and having some time for our mind to relax will be important. Once good time management skills are perfected college will not be so hard to complete. Calvo 2 Having good study skills is also very important to be a successful college student.
Eg: If there is a school trip that cost certain amount of money a young person from a more wealthy back ground will be able to go and enjoy the visit learning new things, sharing experiences with their peers. A y.p who is not in a financial position to go will not get to enjoy and learn the benefits and is excluded from the group. A young person who is financially stable has the choice to from a variety of hobbies and interests which they may want to explore and possibly achieve in. This gives them the opportunity to feel good about themselves and the chance to develop new skills and to develop themselves. As well as the chance to meet new people.
All while not being stressed out about having to be involved in all this stuff and having to be at home at a certain time. If students tend to feel overwhelmed, they might think about dropping out. That is why I think they need a little break sometimes to just hang out with friends, relax, and get their minds off of school for a little bit. HAving the perception of having to be at home at a certain time and on time, will just get them confused and
College Monthly Budget Project While inputting info on my college monthly budget worksheet I realized a few things. One thing is that community college is much cheaper, you must limit your spending, and last but most importantly do not overspend. Community college is so much cheaper. If you have a certain amount you want to spend but still want to get a great education than community college is a great place for you. Although you may not have the full college life experience it is a great way to get you your degree and get you on track to your career.
Be prepared. You should meet your partner with topics of discussion in mind and/or questions you would like to ask. Sometimes partners become good friends and never need to search for something to discuss. However, this does not always happen; nor should it. Some students learn better with a language partner because they are not friends and do not get distracted as easily.
Despite the benefits of a college education, such as a better starting pay in entry level jobs and some better opportunities to find world, these benefits are only individual and do not outweigh the price it takes to achieve them. College is too expensive to be paid for by every high school graduate because it throws students and their families into pools of debt and is not worth the money for those that do not even graduate. Attending college presents numerous risks and gambles, yet college is ultimately an ‘investment.’ Although it may not pay off right away, it will reward those with a degree financially in the future. Obama continued on to say that “higher education should not be a luxury,” but a crucial part to building a career and a future. (Obama).
Sometimes parents, faculty and others tend to idealize their college experience and remember it as that peaceful time when they had few worries or responsibilities. To students currently attending college, however, the process is often stressful and frustrating. The competition for grades, the need to perform, relationships, career choice, and many other aspects of the college environment cause stress. Before condemning stress outright, we need to understand that stress is only harmful when it is excessive. Much of the stress that we all experience is helpful and stimulating.

As college freshman, we don’t want to put on all the extra things all at once. We want time to breathe, relax, and have fun; Enjoy college life, isn’t that what it’s all about? Service Learning isn’t the first solution when it comes to thinking about having fun for most college students. People don’t think they will have the time to do it, and it will take time away from studying, but what if it’s part of the class?
