Jesus Gonzales Teaching Case Reflection As teachers we learn through doing, but experience is not the only thing that makes effective teachers. Knowledge is equally important in becoming an effective teacher. With knowledge we have a responsibility to share it with others to the best of our ability and to know when we need to adapt our sharing techniques. Teaching cases are examples of specific teaching experiences and are one way that teachers can reflect and add to their knowledge database. Each example can be examined by different perspectives, identifying the problems, and suggesting some solutions.
It is important that the teacher appreciate any input from their students, whether the answer is correct or not. This openness will instil confidence and motivation from within the group and help their learning experience. To create a positive learning environment, with a clear structure, a teacher needs to have the ability to plan their lectures or sessions effectively. With clear goals and aims which match up with the curriculum. These lessons need to be creative, incorporate activities and techniques that will engage the learner.
As a teacher, one of the main roles is to motivate your learners to develop their ability and aspiration to learn. Some may read about delivering training and facilitating learning , but in reality a teacher does much more than that. A teaching role is not just about teaching your subject or preparing learners for assessment. The focus of a teaching role relates very much to inspiring learners to change and develop their personal, social and professional skills to the best of their ability. In this respect, the ultimate aim is to enable learners to understand how to take responsibility for their own development.
The leaders are the ones who have the ultimate say in how things will run. While the symbolic frame provides a sense of community, it can also cause tension when new members are brought into a team of veteran teachers. Formative Assessment in tracking learner progress Formative assessment (assessment for learning) is engaged during a course or programme. This is the type of assessment used and it allows teachers to adjust targets and objectives to suit the student until they develop skills and become more confident. Formative assessment is usually informal (Formative informal) and can take place at any time during the teaching and learning process. Feedback from formative assessment will be beneficial to both student and teacher as it not only allows the student to recognize their success and look at areas for development but it allows the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and look to improve on future sessions. Formative assessment is often seen as being motivational as it can be seen as a review rather than an assessment.

Coaching can be defined as improving performance at work by turning things that people do into learning situations, it is building on what the learner already knows and can do already but is unable to do alone. It is built on trust and collaboration. It creates a learning environment at work that will encourage learners to seek out evidence from practice, it will stretch and challenge them. Guidance and encouragement will then bring out and enhance strengths that are used day to day, coaches use open ended questions to help the coachee solve the problem themselves. Providing the utensils within the intellectual and social settings to encourage learning and growth as a person the curriculum has many outlines and has long been deliberated on numerous occasions, as we are on the brink of the latest version; it isn’t always what is being taught but how it’s being taught that is, for the most part, beneficial. What does the statement, “Students not only care what you know, but want to know you care” mean to you? This statement to me means, that there are students who not only seek for a teacher with knowledge, but a teacher who will appreciate them as a student, and encourage them to succeed. This is because many students are discouraged by those teachers who are in a classroom because it is their job rather than their passion. Everyday I encounter different students with different personalities, but through my experience with children, I have learned that, the most common students are those who are in need of a caring hand and support.
