Roles and Application of a Health Care Manager Debra Wilson HCS 325 05/12/2014 Professor Connie Woods Roles and Application of a Health Care Manager Health care managers have many roles that are important to operating a health care facility. One of the most important acts that a health care manager can do is to be sure that their facility’s operations are running efficiently. Smoothly ran, a facility will deliver one result-a productive and efficient environment. There are four roles that a health care manager has that are important to running a facility. These four roles are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Another important role of a health care manager, according to Lombardi, Schermerhorm, and Kramer, is influencing others. (Lombardi, Schermerhorm, and Kramer, 2007). Planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are the four most important roles that a health care manager can have. In order for the health care manager to assure that operations run smoothly, I feel that planning is the most important role of these four roles. Within the role of planning a health care manager can make essential decisions concerning their facility. This allows them to identify preferred work results that can be achieved by staff with positive outcomes. Suitable decisions demand perspective-a clear, comprehensive view of actual performance. Such perspective demands are necessary for the planning of continuous performance improvement. Implementing and utilizing plans that are put into place will help the organization to achieve the desired result of operating smoothly. The responsibilities that a health care manager faces today can be challenging and overwhelming. With the knowledge that I have received from this course, I want to be able to incorporate all the roles into the tasks that a health care manager faces daily. I wish to also be able
