As previously stated, in order to be a KoF, you must be willing to nullify the ethical standards you are most accustomed to in order to comply to the declaration of God or any other divine or spiritual medium. The definition of a Tragic Hero, (TH) is quite easy to understand. A TH can also be a good or bad guy, also depending on your religious stance and how you view the biblical accounts of the story of Abraham and Isaac. The TH is the person who will never defy the moral ethics of
Many argue that they are an economic benefit. This economic opinion makes no sense because it assumes that illegal worker's jobs would go away if they were not accessible. For sweatshop and subsidiary labor this may be correct but not for actual economic activity. Many of those workers that are and “economic benefit” are being exploited. This situation is not one to rationalize about.
Which of the elements of bushido and chivalry would work well for a code of chivalry in today’s world? Explain. Well one element that is in both is loyalty. Whether it was loyalty to their church or to their shoguns you must have loyalty. This would work well in today’s world because you can’t trust anybody, So if we had to obey a code that would work well.
Trying to decide between my friends or the truth. Sometimes I have to pick the truth, and sometimes I have to choose my friends to protect them and their safety. In this story, trusting was a big concern. Tom has to make a HUGE decision, both to tell the truth and save his own life, or keep the truth and live in his guilt the rest of his life. The other main theme throughout the story was that you should always pick the right people to be friends with.
When unethical decisions are made, everyone involved in the corporation and its well being are affected in a negative way and will jeopardize the well being of the business. “Ethical responsibilities of an organization’s management are to follow the generally held beliefs about behavior in society” (Wheelen and Hunger, pg 58). An ethical role within the corporation is not mandatory, however it is practiced in most businesses would be giving employees notices of
Meta ethics tries to make sense of the terms and concepts used in ethical theories such as Utilitarianism and Natural Law. Some people believe that ethical language is extremely meaningful as they argue it is essential to be able to define terms such as “good” and “bad” before we can even begin to discuss ethical theories. However others disagree with this and argue that moral statements are subjective so are meaningless, as they cannot be described as either true or false. Those who hold cognitive theories about ethical language would argue that ethical statements are not meaningless as they are about facts, and can therefore be proved true or false. Ethical Naturalism is a cognitive theory of meta ethics which holds the belief that
With god/s grounding the moral the foundation of the moral becomes arbitrary because it would only be good because god says its so. Also calling god good would not make any sense since he decided what good is or isn't, so how could he be good unless the moral was grounding him? If piety was a certain care of the god’s we could look to do always what is Pious and in return we would be worshiping/caring for the god/s if they exists. If the God’s are looking to something the “moral, piety” then if you act pious in your actions through life you will be in a way worshiping the god’s, because you are honoring what they already honer. The problem with this idea is when people think god grounds the moral
Now I will explain situation ethics, the idea developed by priest Joseph Fletcher in the 1960’s. Situation ethics is deciding the best thing to do in a situation when we feel there are no particular moral guidelines to follow. Some people would describe situation ethics as a modern day dilemma, and that maybe it makes you more confused about a situation if you already had your mind partially made up- as it often comes to two conclusions that you have to decide which one is best; it does however help you make an informed decision. Some would argue that situation ethics is immoral because it gives everyone the chance to prove everything in a positive light, which surely is not beneficial for our society. Through practicing situation ethics, you show pragmatism, the Christian goal is love, and you must try and achieve love no matter what.
The minimum wage is a form of coercion in which it forced employers to hire at an arbitrary price that otherwise wouldn't be used if not for the government's intervention. The minimum wage causes a few detrimental effects. By raising the minimum wage the employer would either have to fire workers because they cannot keep up with the wages or raise the prices of their products which don’t benefit the so called 99%. Another point is that there doesn't need to be a minimum wage because the superseded fear is that businesses will hire at super low wages caused by collusion. Well contrary to this popular belief the real world doesn't work this way at all.
I told her I couldn’t clock her in because of a few reasons. I wouldn’t be doing a moral action and I would be endangering the whole company by losing money. Also the other workers would be at risk and most of all, I would be demeaning myself. I had a mother and animals to take care of as well as myself and there was no way I was going to take a chance of losing my job over someone else’s problems. Clocking my friend in without her being there is very much the same thing as stealing from the business and it would have been extremely morally wrong.
