Tyler DeMartin Professor Gaines English 101/2 March 6,2013 Role Model First Teacher Second How does one get labeled of being a good teacher? All teachers are different. They teach in different styles, run class differently, and sometimes that one teacher connects with a student. This teacher for me was a man named Mr. Demaio. Mr. Demaio was a short man not taller than 5’7 with short brown hair. He taught a couple of elective classes at my high school called Urban Affairs, and Conflicts. These classes taught us about all the conflicts and violence going on in today’s world. Mr. Demaio was not only a great teacher but a great guy as well. He was very open and always wanted to hear what people had to say and their opinions. Also he had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. Finally he wanted everyone to succeed not only in the classroom but also in the future too. This is why I can say he was my favorite teacher. Mr. Demaio ran his class in a style I liked a lot. He made everyone feel comfortable while being in his class. No matter what the topic was there were never any wrong answers in his eyes. He always wanted to hear every student’s opinion. Having this style of teaching, it made everyone feel comfortable with saying answers. Mr. Demaio inspired me a lot teaching like this, because it taught me to never be afraid to share your opinion. Because and opinion is never wrong. Another reason why Mr. Demaio was my favorite teacher, was because, he had a good sense of humor. During class he would always be making jokes and laughing. He was never up tight or in a bad mood he was always smiling. He always gave off positive energy. He would always play jokes on the teacher across the hall, like steal his markers.
