What are your career goals? How might attending SPISE support these goals? I have a great love of the sciences and after a lot of deliberating, I came to the conclusion that I needed to choose a field that I would always find interesting. I intend to pursue a career in the field of Inorganic Chemistry, which appeals to me because of the potential for progressive research into metalbased cancer drugs. This research is vital, as the drugs are non-carbon compounds and can be used as prodrugs to reduce cancer cells. In viewing a video on the internet about the Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) , I thought this might be a good program to enhance my studies in a unique and focused environment. This will give me the opportunity to experience living on a university campus while asserting my independence, which will provide me with the opportunity to be out in the world as an adult. Being a part of the SPISE program would improve my analytical capabilities and also to act as a measuring scale for me academically with other students that have similar goals. It will also benefit me by improving my time management skills, flexibility and willingness to push through obstacles. I will be able to participate in team building activities which will help me become a well rounded individual and help to enhance my communication skills which can only benefit me as I work towards accomplishing my career goals. Teamwork is a very important aspect of group productivity and success as well as an essential life skill. I feel very strongly that SPISE can enable me to realize my dreams through science. Which will require a lot of dedication on my part. Jonathan Scott.
