Job Description Robotic engineers design robots, maintain them, develop new applications for them, and conduct research to expand the potential of robotics. This is a rapidly developing field, with advances in computing constantly opening up new possibilities for robotics applications. The profession offers jobs for a wide range of temperaments. Visionary robotic engineers can work designing experimental mobile robots, with applications ranging from medical and military uses to designs aimed at creating vehicles capable of piloting themselves on other planets. More down-to-earth jobs involve designing new production-line installations. It is a safe bet that twenty years from now, robots will be employed for a range of new activities. Engineers that can effectively think of needs that can be successfully full by robots, and who can work effectively in engineering teams to develop them, will be extremely successful in this field. Education The field of robotic engineering involves the design, manufacture, and use of movable machines. Robotic engineering programs can be found at the associate’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Salary A robotic engineer’s average salary depends upon the size of the organization, educational qualifications and, most importantly, the amount of experience he or she has. On an average, a graduate gets paid around $3,000 to $45,000. On the other hand, an engineer with moderate experience and a bachelor’s degree in robotic engineering has a salary of about $50,000 to $65,000. Work Hours Most engineers work in office buildings.
