D’Andria McFadden Bobby Seale Biography Robert George ‘’Bobby’’ Seale best known as Bobby Seale was born on October 22, 1936. Bobby Seale was one of three children born to his mother, a homemaker, and father, who was a carpenter in Dallas, Texas. After moving around in Texas his family finally relocated to Oakland, California during World War ll. Seale attended Berkeley High School. He also joined the U.S. Air force in 1956. He spent a total of three years in the Air force. In 1962 Seale entered Merritt College in Oakland, California. He then joined an Afro-American Association and became active in the civil rights movement. Bobby Seale is an American political activist, he is famously known for co-founding the Black Panther Party with Huey Newton. By 1966, Seale and Newton was ready to organize their beliefs, and they formed the Black Panthers (later renamed the Black Panther Party).Originally created as a armed force protecting the Black community from the notoriously racist Oakland police. The Panthers became a new voice in the Civil Rights Movement. Bobby Seale focused much of his energy on community outreach, and California movement across the nation. In 1968, Seale decided that a public account of the formation and the history of the Panthers was needed to be published. So, he wrote “Seize the Time: The Story of Black Panther Party” assisted by Huey P. Newton. Initially formed to protect locals and the community, Black Panther also ran medical clinics and provided free food to school children. In 1972, Seale renounced political violence and concentrated on conventional politics. In 1973, Seale ran for Mayor of Oakland and came in second out of nine candidates with 43,710 votes.
