There are some reports that suggest that Violet had experienced two miscarriages prior to the birth of Sherlock. Being a child born after a mother experiences such losses suggests that perhaps he was watched closely and was overly protected by his parents. It has been noted that his parents did worry about his mental and emotional development. (Rennison 2005, pp. 20-23) Sherlock’s family did well for themselves, with an ancestor who fought for the king in Civil War and conducted experiments in microscopy, which could account for Sherlock’s continued interest in the sciences (Rennison, p. 21).
The men in his family had been soldiers and inherited the way of life of soldiers of the time. Story has it that Camillus’ mother had a dream before giving birth of a boy that had a red cross on his chest and was followed by other children wearing the same cross (Lyons, 1917). As a young man he was not interested in school or studying, like his father he inherited the vices of a soldier and joined the Venetian Army to fight against the Turks with his father. He spent time at the San Giacomo Hospital in Rome due to an open wound in his leg as a patient, servant and soldier In 1575 after having lost all his possession due to his love of gambling he decides to join the Franciscan Order but was rejected due to his disease. He went back to Giacomo Hospital where he served as a nurse, became administrator and after, bursar of the hospital.

Along with these practices each day, an average student takes 4-5 classes during a semester, which add up to 10-15 hours of class time per week.” There are just as many hours spent practicing as there are spent in class. Both require mental preparedness, hard work, and focus. Professors are willing to meet with the athletes and work out a schedule to turn in assignments early, push back a test date or get notes from a designated note-taker. It’s a big watch and it is supposed to be in the central station in New Orleans. But the watch goes backwards, because the man who made it, son died in the war, so he wishes that the time would go backwards, and give all the killed soldiers their life back. And I think that the watch is a symbol of the time going backwards, because Benjamin’s life is going backwards. As a baby Benjamin was left at an elder home, and got taken care of, by a woman named Queenie. When Benjamin lived at the elder home, he meets a little girl named Daisy, and they became very good friends.
The next piece of literature we read was Death of A Salesman by Arthur Miller. This play followed the Loman family and their ailing father, Willy Loman who is struggling with a mental disorder. The play follows the failing career of Willy Loman and his son Biff Loman and the womanizing other son Happy and the strong mother who holds the family together, Linda Loman. As a class we finished the year by watching a documentary called 21 & Up. The movie follows several children and films them for a couple days when each of them are
A caring family, a loving environment and clear direction, as military school provides, and the ways different people deal with poverty, can easily be the factors that made Wes Moore the author pursue a positive lifestyle while his counterpart ended up in prison for life. The author moved to the Bronx with his family to live with his grandparents. He attended a private school there which he was failing. He started to act up missing school, doing petty crimes like graffiti, and started up with his sister. His mom decided that she had to send him to military school to get his act together, so with the help of his grandparents his mother was able to send him away.
