Every year in America thousands of motorists take to the roads and highways in their vehicles as a means of getting where they want to go. Whether it is for work or leisure, the automobile has become the conveyance of choice in this country. This has made the transportation system in America a vital piece of the country’s infrastructure. This essay will be about which road signs help to organize the traffic on our busy roads. There are many road signs to which drivers must pay attention. Few are as prolific as the stop sign. The stop sign is an octagonal sign that signals the driver to do just as it says in the middle: STOP. Heeding a stop sign is crucial for the good driver. Stop signs exist so that traffic can flow through busy intersections. Without them, there would be lots of accidents. The other day there was an accident at an intersection without a stop sign. Somebody really ought to write a letter about that. While they’re at it, they should ask about the graffiti on the stop sign over on 9th street. It is unsightly, and could cause trouble. Another sign that is important is the yield sign while it is not so much a command as the stop sign, it is there to help traffic flow. The yield sign is triangular and says “yield” across the middle. It is red and white. A driver should yield the right of way to other cars. When the sign is present. This means that when you see this sign, you should look for cars coming from another direction, if you see cars coming, you should stop until it is safe to proceed. In addition, the speed limit sign is very important. This sign is present to let drivers know how fast they are allowed to drive in certain area. In residential zones, the sign posted is usually 25 miles per hour. This means that you cannot exceed 25 miles per hour in this area. This speed limit is usally posted to let you know you are
