If you consider driving then the problem gets even worse. Drinking and driving is a one of the biggest problems when it comes to driving and it is against the law. Every injury and death caused by drunk driving is totally preventable. Although the percentage of crashes that are alcohol-related has dropped dramatically in recent years, there are still way too many preventable accidents. Unfortunately, in spite of great progress, alcohol-impaired driving remains a serious national problem that tragically affects many victims on a yearly basis.
On average, drivers spend more than half their time driving engaged in distractive behavior. Most of the drivers on the road, about 94%, would agree that sending e-mails or text messages while driving is not acceptable and about 87% of drivers support laws against reading, typing or send text messages or e-mails while driving. But unfortunately in this day in age, multi-tasking is simply just a fact of life; everyone will face constant demand for their time, and will feel the need to juggle more things at once now than ever before. And the bad part of that is people try to multi-task while driving, and that is never a good idea (AAA foundation). Another concern in many different communities around the United States is the distracted teen driver, not just the adult.
You could have easily injured or killed someone else or yourself. On top of it all, you are to blame for causing the accident. The whole situation could have been avoided if you had waited until you reached your destination before looking at your phone. Distracted driving has become a serious problem within the past decade due to the prevalence of distractions such as portable music players, talking on cell phones, and text messaging. A split second glance away from the road is all it takes for disaster to strike while driving.
Texting and driving Seydou Bocoum DeVry University I will be using to this correlation of facts and opinions to establish my argument of having strict laws against the use of mobile phone while driving. Texting has become one of the most dangerously addictive activities, which has not just targeted the general public but has become more common in professional drivers as well. There is 100% more of a chance for drivers [along with their passengers], to face fatal accidents, when texting is put into the equation. When there are laws put in place to prevent this activity, professional drivers will be more attentive in postponing such activities and stay safe. By the implementation of such laws, 6% of accidents caused by the use of mobile
I think this is a good idea, as does most of the public. The problem is, the general public doesn’t acknowledge how the cost of such equipment is obtained. The in car video I mentioned above is not always reliable. The systems break down and malfunction, and repairs are so costly, many agencies do not get them fixed. The same would be true, even more so, for Body cameras.
Sitting in traffic is one of the worst time consumers of the day. We all dislike wasting our time sitting in traffic when we are late for a meeting or late for a sporting event. My parents have worked with the Department of Transportation in Pinellas County for years and this has been the steaming question for their whole time there “How can we make travel on our roads better and smoother?” Many of their associates have thought that maybe if they just expand the more traveled roads that the ride would become less congested. This may have worked in the short term, but what they did not expect was the 42% increase in population over the last 30 years (US Census). Over the last decade or so, the department of transportation in the Tampa Bay area has proposed and idea for a monorail type system for the main areas of business in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa.
The Analytical Essay: Chronic Pain Changed My Life Chronic pain is an invisible disability that is often misunderstood. Those that suffer with constant pain struggle simply to function. Several years ago, like many, this is a topic I knew very little about. Unfortunately, that reality changed, after a car accident on December afternoon in 2003, and was extremely intensified by a head on collision in February 2012. Since then, chronic pain has greatly impacted my life; the things I am able to do, the things I can no longer do, the profession I had hoped to be involved in, the one I am currently pursuing, my moods and relationships.
English 112 17 April 2014 Law Enforcement Preventable Vehicle Crashes Driving is a daily activity that law enforcement officers do that affects the whole community. There are a large percentage of patrol vehicle crashes every year. Patrol vehicle crashes are costly to agencies and create more expenses to taxpayers and their municipalities. Crashes are not always the law enforcement officers’ fault, but a lot of these crashes are. Officers responding to calls, engaging in car chases and driving on routine patrol make them more of a liability while operating a motor vehicle than an average daily commuter.
When one is given a drivers license, they are also given a great deal of responsibility. Not only are they operating a vehicle that has the potential to take their own life, but it has the potential to take the life of others as well. Driving requires a great deal of focus and requires many types of concentration, which should not be broken. Sending text messages or “texting” while driving also requires a great deal of attention and is estimated to cause 28% of automobile accidents per year (Pascual-Ferrá, P). When an individual chooses to send a text while driving, they are sacrificing their ability to concentrate and impairing their judgment.
However, it took longer time to go to work since he just needed 40 minutes to drive to work but he needed more or less two hours to go to work by Caltrain. He complained about the inconvenience with his colleagues and he found that his colleagues also had the same problems. Some of his colleagues chose to pool car, which means people drive to work with other strangers who work nearby and share the gas price. And they said that as gas prices increased, their wages were not increased as fast as gas prices. As a result, the increasing of gas prices bring inconvenience to people’s lives.
