1890-1930 The problems facing the nation in the late 19th century gave rise to the Progressive movement. Progressives were a diverse group with various--and sometimes contradictory--agendas. However, most focused on the problems arising from rapid industrialization, urbanization, increasing immigration, and corruption in the worlds of business and politics.
