Child Care A Child Care A In my project I will discuss the reasons I have chosen ‘Child Care A’ for Tyree, how nature and nurture, sociocultural influences, continuity/discontinuity, risk and resilience relate to Tyree’s development. I will incorporate Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages of Development and Piaget’s Cognitive Stages of Development to Tyree and the ‘Child Care A’ facility. I will also address the cognitive, physical, and social needs of infants and include the attachment theory to support my daycare choice. I chose ‘Child Care A’ as the best choice for 8-week old, Tyree based on the facts of Erikson’s, psychosocial theory, Piaget’s cognitive stages of development and the website; ‘5 Steps To Choosing Care’(“5 Steps To Choosing Care,” n.d.). The website states five things that should be taken into consideration when choosing a day care: adult to child ratio, group size, caregiver qualifications, turnover and accreditation. The information regarding the day care does not state the exact child to caregiver ratio, but it sounds adequate being caregivers are able to take the time to talk to the infants during diaper and feeding times and are holding and cuddling the infants. Caregiver qualifications and turnover are not indicated in ‘Child Care A’ description, so I would inquire about those two concerns if this were real life. The description for ‘Child Care A’ does state that the ‘facility is very clean and has lots of colorful objects and pictures’. It also states that the ‘shelves are low and contain safe, appropriate toys for sorting and stacking and that there are tunnels for crawling and areas for resting’. This description sounds comforting but the toys are not age appropriate for a 8-week old child but I’m sure there are older children there that those toys would accommodate.
