In the reading, To the Americans, Osama bin Laden uses rhetorical concepts in order to persuade the American government and supporters of their actions. Osama bin Laden uses techniques to alter the perspectives of the reader. The format of his letter is simple to read and understand. bin Laden designed his letter with matching common questions with his answers and beliefs. The reason why bin Laden wrote this letter is because the American government has been leading the attack on bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, and overall terrorism against the United States. Osama bin Laden uses this letter to justify al-Qaeda and extremists’ actions. He claims that he is only attacking the United States because America is attacking them, which seems to be turning into a vicious cycle. He claims that he is only attacking America because America is attacking him and America is attacking bin Laden because he is attacking America.
