Deforestation. Illegal logging. Illegal mining. Dynamite fishing. These are only some of the many problems which are caused by human practices and eventually degrade our natural resources. We are born in this world dwelling in the great bounty of nature. We are provided with abundance of our seas, fertility of our soil, fresh and clean air, and exquisite environment that we inherited from our forefathers. But what are we doing in return? We are destroying the balance of nature. Is this what we will pass on to the next generation? Philippines was once marked as the top three highly mineralized country in the whole wide world. Having this title means a lot that if properly managed would greatly contribute to the development of the lives of many people in the country. But, unfortunately, this has not been realized because of lack on government control and research methodologies. Thus, illegal miners take advantage to this which resulted to the lost of wealth of the country. Deforestation, on the other hand, is the cutting down of trees for commercial purposes and no new trees are planted to replace them, while illegal logging is the unauthorized cutting of trees. If these two practices are continually practiced by the people and has not been controlled by the authorities, it would surely result to a more eroded environment. Soon there will be no more trees in the forest to prevent soil erosion and floods. Moreover, dynamite fishing not only kills small fishes but also destroys corals which are the habitats of the marine creatures. This human malpractice contributes to the ecological imbalance which would then result to extinction. Undeniably, people have been so greedy and wicked to Mother Nature. We have been so insensitive and selfish. We are taking things for granted. We are taking away everything without leaving anything good for the next generation. We
