But if you’re somebody who doesn’t worry, or care about what people think of you then shame is going to have little to no affect. That’s what can be tricky about shame, on one hand you have an extremely powerful tool for punishment and on the other all you have are thoughts and opinions that could mean nothing to someone. The conduct does not have to be "sexual" in nature but must still be unwelcome and severe enough to make a reasonable person uncomfortable. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination. It is illegal, it can devastate those who experience it, and it often destroys the morale and productivity of the work environment. It is widespread in the fire service, and the numbers are not getting better.

One major reason that female circumcision is so controversial is that it is not very hygienic and many health risks come with it. Since there are no known health benefits that come from female circumcision, many people think that it is cruel to do that to a women or girl. This becomes especially true when you add in the factor about all of the health risks. A few risks come right away with this procedure, such as “severe pain, shock, hemorrhaging (bleeding), tetanus or sepsis (bacterial infection), urine retention, open sores in the genital region and injury to nearby genital tissue.” (Female Genital Mutilation, Who.int) Some long term health risks include “recurrent infections, chronic pain, cysts, an inability to get pregnant, complications during childbirth and fatal bleeding.” (Female Genital Mutilation, Wikipedia). Along with all these risks is the fact that with some procedures the vagina is almost completely closed, so later on in life the women will have to undergo multiple procedures so she can engage in intercourse and if she gets pregnant, she will have to be opened up for childbirth.
