In the beginning of the movie Remember the Titans, the leadership style that Coach Boone portrayed was an authoritarian leadership. This leadership style was shown at many points in the movie, including just before the pre-season training camp (when the team gets on the bus), and at the pre-season training camp. As the football season progressed, Coach Boone’s leadership style changed. At the beginning of the season, he was an authoritarian leader, but as the season progressed, and the team got closer, he slowly became a laissez-faire leader. This leadership style was shown by Coach Boone in the last few games in the movie. The first time it was shown was when the team wanted to do their own warm-up. Coach Boone didn’t disagree, and didn’t even try to help them with their warm up. The second time the laissez-faire leadership style was shown by Coach Boone was when Gary, the team captain, approached him to talk about kicking another player off the team. Even though Coach Boone must have realized the player wasn’t doing what he was supposed to do, he didn’t say anything, and nothing happened until someone else approached him about it. At these parts in the movie, Coach Boone did not voluntarily help the team, and team members had to ask him when they needed help, which is what happens with a laissez-faire leader. At the beginning of the movie Remember the Titans, the head coach of the team, Coach Boone, was an authoritarian leader because he did not allow any negotiation and didn’t listen to any input from other people. But as the football season progressed, so did Coach Boone’s leadership style; the team became closer, and got better, and Coach Boone slowly became a laissez-faire leader, so he didn’t offer his advice unless he was
