| Religious Life of Planet Earth | Tomeka C. Borges | Rel 212 | Dr. Pringle | 7/29/2012 | In this paper I am from another planet and have been sent to earth to determine if it is a religious planet or not. | In order to see if the people of this planet are religious I would first go and see what is it that they believe in. I would observe and see how they worship. Do they go to church? What type of Gods do they worship? Are their certain practices that they must adhere to? Is there a moral code that they must follow? How many religions are there once I have determined if this is a religious planet. In researching this paper religion has many sects and an abundance of looks to go along with them. Religion is defined as a set of beliefs, concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe, usually involving devotional and ritual observances that often contain a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. (religion,n.d.). In taking this into prospective I would follow each of the above to be about to go back home with great findings. I am going to choose three religions that I observed that meet the criteria I have established in the about paragraph. The first one would be Muslims, they have to pray 5 times a day no matter where they may be at the time. This is a practice in which they call making salaat (prayer). In this religion they believe in complete submission to Allah and to follow his commandments. The next Religion would be Jehovah’s Witnesses they also believe that you are to follow Jehovah’s word. Just like the Muslims they too have commandments that were sent from God to follow. They meet on Sunday to worship and study God’s word. They don’t believe in celebrating holidays. Jehovah’s Witnesses also go out and find others to follow and worship with them. The final religion that I observed would be Hiniduism and in this
