Berniece is blunt about accepting that her life is hard, but she only wants what is best for her daughter. But in order for that to happen, she needs to teach Maretha to reach for better things in life. After her husband died, a local man named Avery has been trying to pursue Berniece, but Berniece feels she is independent and doesn’t need a man. “You trying to tell me a woman can’t be nothing without a man.
I feel Jennifer and her family do not have good communication. I understand that Jennifer is grown and she is trying to do it all, but she really needs to express her feelings to her family. I also believe her family should start asking her if she needs help, or ask her how she feels. I find it very sad that Jennifer’s husband does not at least try to help with the housework, or pay for a maid. Financially I think Jennifer and her husband are doing great.
One observation that I made about Faye, from A Secret Sorrow, is that she is always thinking of her family members before herself. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she is more concerned about how her condition will make Kai react. Then once the two of them adopt their three children, she takes advantage of the time she has with her them that she thought she would never have. On the other hand, the woman from A Sorrowful Woman hides herself from her family even though she knows the time she has with them will be cut short. She did not take advantage of precious time that she
The Relationship among a Mother and Child The mother plays an important role in her daughter’s life; the child will learn her values from her and look up to her as a mother. The mother affects the child’s life by raising the child in a comfortable environment and doing various activities with the child. In the book, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Tita, Roberto, and Esperanza do not have an instant connection with their mothers after they were born, resulting in them creating a stronger bond with their surrogate mothers. Tita’s relationship with her biological mother is unstable, making her believe that Nacha is her true mother because she is the only one who cares and understands her. Personally, I fight my own internal enemies day after day, one being, the resentment and anger of having to put my grandmother into a nursing home. These feelings are equal to both sides as for me, I, as a grandchild should not be handling this life altering situation but if I hadn’t done what was right, she may be dead today. I had to weigh my options: let the tide roll and see where it goes, or step up and take her away to a safe, but unhappy place. As human nature, I think we almost always choose the option where life can be continued whether or not we or they are happy with it. This seems to show to me that we are slightly
I am always a few tasks ahead of myself in my mind and very often don’t take the time to ask for clarification, or feedback from others to make sure they understand where I am coming from. In the two examples I provided, lack of feedback was definitely a major cause of the misunderstandings. Just a sentence or two in each case from the receiver quantifying the message could have prevented the misunderstandings from occurring. Instead, I was in a hurry to get that easy task off my to-do list and the customer service rep was probably also in a hurry to get on to her next call and her next order. That is the way life seems to be these days in business.
He was able to help bring my mother back to her children. In the beginning it was rocky getting to trust him, but eventually I began to trust them both. Today, I have back my nurturing, loving, and God fearing mother. In conclusion, a memory of heartache and tragedy no longer has a hold on my life. Witnessing my mother going through her struggles and overcome her addiction crack to gain her life and family back has helped me to see there is a future.

This shows maturity because she is showing not only care for herself but other people as well. When Nell gets yellow fever that is the end of Mattie’s laziness because she has to work her hardest just to keep Nell and Eliza’s nephews alive. “It was never going to stop.
Everything that Miss Moore put the kids through was to teach them a lesson and I feel like my parents did the same for me; they taught me a lesson to show me that life is not perfect and I do not get everything I want. Lucky for me, once I got out into the real world it was not shocking to me that everything did not go the way I wanted it to be. On the other hand Marissa had everything when she was younger, but once she got out into the real world it would be hard for her to accept life’s obstacles. Buying one’s way to happiness will never work and even though I still do not have everything I am happier than I ever
