Dashing through the Emergency Room, with a crowd of doctors and other nurses alongside the patient who was in critical condition, she worked with such fineness. Attaching IV bags by puncturing a needle through the patient’s skin, while providing rescue breaths using a hand-held face mask at the same time, Nurse Ana amazed me. As I sat in the Hospital lobby, patiently waiting to visit my Grandpa, I was enchanted by the work of this Nurse, the way she worked so smoothly, knowing exactly what she was doing. By watching her, I knew my calling in life was to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Since that day at the hospital, becoming an RN has been a major goal in my life. Being part of various clubs and organizations has opened many doors for my career choice. Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) has not only educated me about the many career opportunities available for an RN, but has also provided me with many hands on experience training with live patients of all ages. Being apart of HOSA throughout high school has allowed me to meet many other students my age who are also interested in the same area of study as I am. Knowing that there are other students that wish to do the same thing I want to do only makes me realize how important studying is. In order to compete and excel above others I know I must dedicate my time and energy into hitting the books. Becoming an RN is only the beginning, my dreams of becoming a lawyer, an entrepreneur, a chef, and maybe even President of the United States will have to be put on hold. Knowing that I have come so far in such a short amount of time inspires me to continue my journey to becoming an RN. And as soon as I reach that goal, I can only keep moving
