Personal Career Analysis: Registered Nurse
The career that I chose to research is registered nursing. “Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family member.”(Bureau of Labor Statistics)I am interested in this field because I like to be able to help people with their problems. I was inspired to go into this field because I have had many medical problems throughout my life and I would like to be able to help people the way I was helped. I feel that being a nurse will give me the opportunity to meet new people and understand some of the issues that people deal with in everyday life. Becoming a nurse has been a long life goal of mine. I like the idea of having many options to explore through this career. Nurses can find a job in most any setting. Nurses are needed in doctor’s offices, hospitals, nursing home, through home health programs, school, military, and many other facilities (Bureau of Labor Statistics). There are several educational requirements to becoming a registered nurse. I plan to receive a BSN through the nursing program at Austin Peay State University. I hope to be accepted into the program by next spring. Pre-nursing students are required to take many sciences to be able to understand the human body and how it all functions. A nurse can either get an associate degree (2 years) or a bachelor degree (4 years). Both ways to become a registered nurse clinical must be taken and a state test has to be passed before receiving a license to practice medicine. Two of the BRAVO outcomes that will be necessary for my career chose are awareness and values. A person who is a nurse needs to aware of his/her surroundings and the environment that their patients and they are living in. A nurse must have good values. In
