Refugees Isabella Mancini 8-4 Refugees flee their countries for various reasons, such as war and conflict, or other dangers. In my opinion the hardest thing a refugee has to go through is coming to a new country alone and having to leave friends and family behind. I believe coming to a new country alone and leaving friends and family behind is the worst part of being a refugee because of the following reasons. First of all, you don’t know anyone in the new country you’re coming to. Secondly, especially if there is a difference in language, it would be very hard to communicate with other people. You need to communicate with people for everyday basic needs. Finally, you are going to miss all of your loved ones from your past country. Refugees have to face a whole new country on their own and they don’t know what might happen next. I know this because of the game Play Against All Odds. In the game you were forced to make tough decisions to leave friends and family behind. Then when you came to the new country you didn’t have a place of your own to stay and you had to find an interpreter to communicate with other people. The only place people would invite you in and let you stay was in a sanctuary for refugees in a church. I also know this because of the video we watched about the fourteen year old boy who was a refugee in the Kosovo War. His mother went to the store and while she was gone military personnel came and kicked him out of his own home. It is wrong for people to come and kick you out of your own home. People shouldn’t have to leave their country against their own will. People should have a right to speak for their own good and be able to make their own decisions, without other people interrogating them and forcing them to think otherwise.
