Did Jesus need to be born of a virgin? 3. If a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? II. Section One: Did Jesus claim to be God “I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever!” (Rev 1:17-18). “Who do you say I am?” (Matt. 16:15); Mark 8:29; Luke 9:20). This was the question Jesus asked of His disciples when He came to Caesarea. Jesus claimed to be God by saying He was the Son of God, His Father. This claim put Him in an equal position as God. Jesus made this claim in front of the Jews, the Sanhedrin, and the chief priests. Whenever and wherever He made this statement He was met with great opposition and the threat of death. He allowed people to worship Him. This is another claim to being a deity. Jesus showed omniscience by telling Peter, that Peter would disown Him three times. Jesus showed omnipotence by resurrecting Lazarus from the dead. Jesus showed omnipresence by promising His disciples that He would be with them until the end of the age. These three claims can only be made by God. Jesus forgave sins and performed many miracles. Only God can forgive sin. You cannot forgive yourself and you cannot come out of sin through good works. Jesus cured the sick and produced food and wine, when it was needed in abundance. God is the only one capable of these supernatural miracles.
