The way I improved my paper was taking my instructors constructive criticism and making the necessary corrections, to the best of my ability. I had obvious problems with the comma usage, dangling modifiers, and it was no question that I have to improve my vocabulary. Referring back to the text book and using the Thesaurus definitely helped me make the best revisions that I can make. The most challenging part of this assignment for me was to expand the use of my vocabulary. I know a lot of words; I just don’t use them in my everyday conversation, thus making it more difficult to incorporate in my essay.
She responded that she uses a book for extra support in teaching a concept; also it is a good resource for maps and diagrams. Another focus was, does the textbook adequately addresses all of the state standards. Her answer was no, because there are gaps that must be filled using other resources. For this piece we were allowed to choose to make what ever we wanted as long as we told our professor about it first and showed her a sketch of it in our sketchpads. I chose to make a vase for my mother. I thought at first it was not going to be hard but I would soon realize later in my journal entries just how challenging making a vase is. I started off by using the techniques I was shown to build up the vase. When

This was the final ingredient in making Marjane the headstrong person that she appeared to be in the book. This is mostly seen early on with the readings that they encourage Marjane to read. Marjane’s novel tends to lean towards the more rebellious audience. Evidence of this can be seen throughout all of Marjane’s different phase from her childhood, to her adolescence, to her adulthood. In the beginning Marjane seems to just follow the beliefs of her parents while being more aware of her surroundings than the average child her age.
I believe Stimach’s essay followed the criteria of a successful argument by persuading me with strong details throughout the entirety of the argument. I think this argument would be a useful teaching tool to put in the textbook, Writing Arguments, because the author backed up her claims with reliable sources and responded to opposing views. Her argument was organized and she gave three specific reasons why students shouldn’t get married in college. Quality Sources One reason this is a good argument is that Stimach uses multiple pieces of factual evidence to support her claims. She moves from one topic to another with ease using facts from other sources frequently.

With the list of books that was provided to us, I was able to have a broader idea of what specific words to look up in the library catalog. I will admit that at the beginning of this assignment I was completely stumped, and I still somewhat am, but nonetheless I did attempt to do as much research as possible so the assignment would go as smoothly as possible. I used two of the books that were recommended to us and both were extremely helpful. “Teenage Confidential An Illustrated History of the American Teen,” was the first that I checked out and it was the one that gave me the most information about the media and how much it really influenced teenage “delinquency” and “rebellion.” One specific online article that I found the most helpful was “Holden’s Lousy Childhood: Poor Parenting and the Rise of Post War Delinquency.” This article went into depth with “Catcher in the Rye” and compared it to everyday things that were going in life. For example, Kirkwood states, “The difficulty Holden’s mother experiences in accepting the death of her son Allie, sets her up as an example of parents of the postwar period struggling to readjust themselves to the new conditions they must
Reading is an important part of everyday life. That’s why me and my mom read the book “The Glory Field” and had an interview. We talked about the protagonist of the book, the setting of the book, and the plot. The main conflict me and my mom had was “Should Lizzy had went along with Lem and Joshua?”. The interview was exciting and we mostly had the same views about the story.
