Thinking is anchored by movement, and touch, often three-dimensional, and usually all or nothing type of understanding of concepts. Demonstration or application works better than words to illustrate ideas." (Learning Styles, p. 71) . Now we know that we can understand that the kinesthetic learner is a more of doer that would rather take action and learn something, or find a solution problem. People learn through pursuing signs to a certain goal, and learning is acquired by meaningful behavior. Learning is emphasized by the association between stimulus and not stimulus response, and new sign or stimulus becomes related with the already meaningful stimulus and goes through significant series of matches which makes no need for reinforcement to establish learning, and therefore, cognition plays a role in learning. The theory introduced the belief that learning is a cognitive process that involves structuring beliefs and obtaining knowledge about the environment, and revealing that knowledge as a purposeful and
English Compositions I I’m writing about the obstacles I had to have come by returning to school to reach my goal of getting my college degree. Explain why it is important to identify and meet individual needs Meeting the Needs of all Learners Student Diversity Aptitude Achievement Interest Motivation Needs Ability Learning and differentiation When planning to introduce an individualised approach to learning, as in personalised learning, teachers need to be aware of the ways in which learners prefer to learn. It has become common practice to identify preferred ways of learning during course induction. While this is clearly good practice, it is only the beginning of the process, not the end. As there is a range of CPD, while teachers may be well versed in theories of learning, what is not happening, in many cases, is the translation of theory into practice in the form of
Carla Wright My Return to School English Composition 1 Denya Cuiffo October 14, 2013 When we attend college as adults, we have expectations of what college will be or will not be. I decided to go back to school for quite a few reasons. The main factors for my returning to school includes my family and stability also plays big role in my returning to school. Going Back to School Edgell Ratliff Foundations of Online Learning American Public University System Donna Hardy Going Back to School We all have our own motivation for going back to school; my motivation is centered on setting myself up for the future. It has been four years since I graduated high school and enlisted in the Army, and I have seen firsthand how important it is to have that little piece of paper. I have seen Soldiers retire or separate from the Army without a degree and start the job search without much success, there are a large number of available jobs, but there is a larger number people competing to get that same position. Seeing how difficult it can be and how people struggle in today’s competitive job
Normally, (for numeracy and literacy) I support the higher ability group for Numeracy due to the 1-2-1 pupil I support, and the middle group in Literacy whilst keeping an eye on the other rest of group (just in case, but they are normally competent to work independently). When working with a table or a group, there will normally be pupils who are at different levels. That is why it is so important to be able to modify and adapt activities to enhance learning experiences. One important contribution whilst the learning activity is delivered is to ensure that learners understand the learning tasks and to reinforce the teaching points from the input. Being aware of the needs of pupils and the level of support they require, whether learning or personality needs.
In order to have a positive learning environment, teachers must offer structure and some type of discipline model in the classroom. Discipline with Diginty is a three-dimensional, positive discipline plan that actively involves the students in the decision-making process. The Discipline with Dignity approach uses discipline as a learning process instead of a system of retribution, producing a cooperative and effective learning environment, which is a key element to overall academic success. Overview of Discipline with Dignity The Discipline with Dignity approach was designed by Dr. Richard Curwin and Dr. Allen Mendler with the focus of creating an effective learning environment for both students and teachers alike. Discipline with Dignity focuses on three main concepts, which are: the three-dimensional plan, the social contract, and teaching students to make responsible choices (Burden, 2010).
The traditional system supporters say that learning consists of regular routine and “tough study”. Even if the final output of work or training is not understood, the guidelines must still be followed. The overall learning at the end will be useful irrespective of the student’s interaction or knowledge of objective – it is helpful if the learning was done with delight rather than being oppressed to the student. Many people are going against tradition as they say that a student must know the goal and objective in order to understand in a better way. The counter argument is that a student will learn as per his or her own understanding and a few concepts may be missed.
