Today it symbolises the debut of both females and males into the young adult world. It is supposed to coincide with upcoming graduation and the consequential emergence into the world. The reasoning for this eludes me because most young people taking part are still in school, in fact in year 11 and have 1 ½ years left until graduation. Today, it is customary for the female to ask the male to partner them for the Deb. They have dance lessons and have to adhere to a strict dress code.
She later changed her name to Fanny Brice and got her first professional job in the chorus of The Talk of the Town but ironicely she got fired during rehearsals by the big current star George M. Cohen. Young Fanny was a strong fighter and didn't give up her dream of entertaining. She then finally landed a spot in The Trans-atlantic Burlesquers where she did an Irving Berlin song, "Sadie Salome, Go Home." She did this in a Yiddish dialect seeing that she looked the way she did. Although she was not Jewish, she quoted " In anything Jewish I ever did, I wasn't standing apart making fun.
It also enables us to think creatively as it expands our capacity for viewing issues on multiple angles instead of one. My personal reason for choosing multiculturalism as my topic is my interest and curiosity of observing and interacting with people of all around the world. Coming from a small country in located in Central Europe, I find it fascinating to have a community full of students who trace their heritage to different parts of the world. Taking advantage of the campus’ diverse student body, I will investigate further how an ethnically diverse community affects not only our school’s system but the students inside it. When the admissions department discovered what had happened, they were going kick her out but they were so impressed with her skills that they let Allen stay in the program. Nevertheless, that wasn’t the end of Allen’s segregation struggle. After high school, Allen hoped to attend North Carolina School of Arts, but she was rejected because her body was "unsuited" for ballet; a criticism used to discourage black dancers. The rejection hit Allen hard, and for the duration of high school, she focused mainly on her studies. She decided to pursue a B.A.
When the Graham family moved to California in the 1910’s Martha saw Ruth at the Mason Opera House in LA which inspired her to pursue study dance. However being faithful Presbyterians, they didn’t allow it. Despite this fact she proceeded to enroll in an arts-oriented junior college after her father’s passing, and then in the Denishawn School of Dancing. Founded by Ruth Saint Denis and her husband, Ted Shawn. Graham spent 8 years at Denishawn as a student and instructor, improving her technique and dancing professionally, as well as starring in the production “Xotchil”, a specially produced performance for Graham made by Ted Shawn.

In only seven years, Graham went from a dance student, to a teacher, to one of the best-known performers of all time. In these seven years, she probably had the expert hours of 10,000 hours, which according to Gladwell would make her an outlier. Many of her dances came from past history and history that was surrounding her. Many outliers got their ideas and thoughts on the outside history that was surrounding them as well.

This change of thought among the various generations is seen through the attitudes, political views, and social awareness of individuals within each group. Family traditions as well as cultural values do not hold nearly as much importance as they have in past generations. Younger generations are concerned more about their personal commitments and their own life rather than belonging to a larger group. In today’s society it is clearly evident how younger generations consider only themselves rather than others. The difference between the thinking processes of different generations is illuminated through the response I received from an individual born in the 1940’s versus the response received from an individual born in the 1990’s when asked what their greatest memory is.
