The business philosophy today is to provide work-life balance to every employee. This is based on the belief that employee perform well and stay on the job for long if they have a health and balance life. Employees now provide special benefits to employees such paid time offs, which are not part of the Family and Medical leave. Employees are now given paid leaves to take care of sick relatives and birthday leaves to celebrate their birthday or the birthday of the love ones. The changes in the business environment and societal values actually provide positive impacts to legally required benefits.
I did begin loosing weight, which generated in me the greatest appeasement, but I would always recoup that weight, and because of that my mother never managed to perceive anything. I was consumed with the visualization of being tiny and being just like other young girls my age. I was in love with the concept of being “perfect.” At this point in my life, I thought my weight was the most insoluble thing I would have to tackle, but little did I know how early I had spoken. In fourth grade, I noticed drastic alterations in my personal life. My father became more and more withdrawn from my mother, sister, brother, and I. I was naïve and ingenuous at the time, and didn’t

The very first high school that I attended was Christ The King which was a catholic school, and because I was the new kid I really didn’t know anyone. So I tried to get to know some people, but because I'm shy that didn't work out for me so I just stayed talking to the one person that I knew. The environment in that school was so different as far as school work and the school district went; their rules were really strict the girls couldn't wear more than two colors on their nails, or in their hair and if so we would get a detention. We also would get a detention if we were caught with our phones or if we were chewing gum; I received plenty of detentions for my nails, chewing gum, and my phone. They had us work once a week on certain days in different places; I’ve worked in a health clinic and MB financial bank.
As the days progressed, however, I felt more at ease at camp. I began to befriend many girls, which helped my comfort level, but what helped remedy my homesickness the most came from within me. I had to force myself to be realistic, and come to grips with the fact that I had to stay at Camp Elliot Barker because I had already made the commitment. I realized that there was absolutely nothing to be depressed about because the day would eventually come when I would be home again. This realization kept me going throughout the week at camp and ultimately led to the ability to allow myself to have one of the best times of my
Richard was at a struggle with his language, he recalls when he couldn’t speak English and he nuns would ask him to speak up or also when the nuns visited his parents to advise them to speak to Richard in English more often so he could pick up on the English and speak it better. (pg.20). It was a big transition fro Richard being that his “Private” language was to be spoken in English now. Feeling not at home with his language Richard had to adjust and speak to his family in English now. At first it was different for Richard because he didn’t feel like he could talk like before with his family, all those tex-mex words, and those newly invented words that sounded correct but didn’t mean anything were no more.
Sometimes, I used to cry after coming back home from school because I did not know what the homework meant. My teachers would try to explain it to me, but it never worked because they were explaining it in English. Although, I was the best math student in my class, I would stand in the border of passing and failing for the word problems would take me down. In addition to my problems in school, when I came to US with my family in 2008, they city was firing workers exceedingly. The biggest unemployment rate was probably
I really like my job and the people I work with. I even really like my boss. He allowed me two weeks off when I first started to go see my sister when she was sick. He also allowed me to work while I was pregnant and gave me enough time off after I had then baby. I have gotten one raise since I have worked there.
Literacy in My Life When I was young, my parents read to me a lot to help me read better for when I started school. Once I started school I was a pretty good reader but I was not very good with writing. The teachers would make us write all the time, and I thought it was useless. I am not a very good writer because I would choose to do the very least I could do to get by with writing prompts throughout my elementary and middle school years. In high school, I was worried about the writing test before and after I took the test.
I helped the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County mostly in their work. According to them, they mostly benefited that day, which made them register my name as a permanent volunteer on call. I promised them that I would be available anytime they need my help. The last day was so impressive for both Dante and me. The efforts we put astonished me that we could complete so many works and we were asking for more.
