I had this happen a few years later when I was in a job I did not like, with a boss I did not like. I started the shutdown mode again and shelled up a bit. It is a tough feeling to shake. You can
Jo Dawn Anderson was excited to tell us her story after she discovered that we were trying to learn about the meetings for a college class. Jo Dawn’s addiction began after she had multiple surgeries with difficult recoveries. She was prescribed painkillers to help with her pain and explained her ignorance about the drugs contributed to her addiction. She was unaware that she could become addicted. She took the medication more regularly than prescribed.
They strive to make their customers happy. The Verizon stores which I have visited have treated me well and have strived to satisfy my needs. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted even if they are helping other customers. They acknowledge that you are there and let you know that they will help you as soon as they finish with the customer in front of you. Verizon gives back to the community by participating in charity events.
Survival to Happiness Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope. Their main purpose is to stay sober. AA defines alcoholism as a disease as well as a spiritual problem. In the book Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill points out, “That was the beginning of a new life, a fuller life, a happier life than I ever known or believed possible” (206). Most of these people come into these rooms because of their unhappiness and don’t want to live like that anymore.
Dr. Carlson used Adler’s individual psychology during his session by asking the client about her and how was everything in her life was. He also reviewed the information that he had from the survey that she had filled. He then started asking questions about her family and he asked open-ended questions, the client was very helpful because she liked to talk and gave very detailed and complete answers, so that also helped with the continuity and the effectiveness of the session. Dr. Carlson used the listening and communications skills described by Nystul and Waldo in that he corroborated what she said to be clear that he was understanding what she was saying, also he let her talk until she finished her response and gave some encouragements. Some of the things that could be improved would be to give more feedback to go more in depth into some of the topics that the client was talking about that appeared as if they needed counseling, but I also understand that this was the first session and they has time constrains.
There were two men seemingly in their late 30’s early 40’s, were in front of the room, appeared to be the leaders of this meeting. When searching an AA meeting to attend, I found this meeting to be OD (open discussion) meeting in being area where it is near home, and at a convenient time. Therefore, I decided to attend this meeting without prior knowledge of this meeting being a 12-Step program until one of the leaders read the 12 steps to the group. While Steve reads this list of goals, I noticed a lot these goals were associated to God and their faith to God. From there, I knew this meeting is going to be a based on a religious structure rather than non-religious structure.
Joe Smith David Kleiman 07 February 2012 Extra Credit Assignment #2 On the 5th of February, I attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Cumming, GA. When I arrived, I noticed a large collection of pamphlets against the wall. Since I was early, I began to read some of them. Then the meeting began. The first ritual of the meeting involved volunteers reading the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Steps aloud to everyone.
One thing that did grab my attention was the diversity of ages; there were older, middle aged and young adults. After the initial readings, all newcomers were asked to introduce themselves; at this point I became very anxious because I was just an observer and was not sure what to do. Anyhow I introduced myself as an observer and received a very warm welcome. The people in the meeting all appeared to be healthy and if I saw them in public would never think they were addicts. The speaker of the meeting, who I would say was about 20 years old, discussed when her addiction started and progressed to when she finally realized she was an addict.
Some just want to escape and drink their pain away. They tend to drink large amounts of alcohol in one sitting which is called binge drinking. That can be very bad considering alcohol is a depressant and you can become dependent on it. Drinking alcohol underaged can affect the still-growing brain leading to a learning deficiency and mental disorders. Alcohol tends to make you lazy and makes you show a loss of interest in your school work and extra curricular activities.
Even though they have a disability they are still able to support and encourage Sam to move forward. His next door neighbor, Annie was able to take care of his daughter when Sam cannot. Annie also gave tips to Sam on how to treat his daughter properly. Sam was able to run his coffee shop and was able to make the customers feel happy. He tries his best not to ruin anything for the customers.
