Their paintings reflected every day scenes and landscapes, often painting on location and in plein-air (the open air). Nature was the main focus of the Impressionists, as was light. They aimed to represent the sensation of light. The brush stroke technique adopted by impressionist was that of short brush strokes of pure colour (they avoided black and brown), also known as the broken colour technique. The paint was often thick and lumpy,
This method is solely how the sculpture came about. Garcia carved the Kasina from a block of cottonwood until he got the shape and size he was looking for. At the bottom he left a square block as if it is a pedestal for Katsina to stand on. The second method that Garcia had used was construction, a method used by many sculptures. This method is when the artist takes scraps or leftovers from other materials or projects and puts them on their sculpture.
Muniz arrived in New York in 1983 and worked as a framer. He also took theatre and scenography classes at the New School and the New York University. A friend lent him a studio, where he started his career as a sculptor, which led him to his first solo exhibit in 1988. His next phase was experimenting drawing and photography. By portraying kids from a Caribbean island using sugar and photographing this work, he had gained exposure and was chosen by the Museum of Modern Art to its "New Photography" exhibit in 1997.
Courage gives people the push when things go wrong. To sum up courage when it comes to persistence and enthusiasm, courage give people the push they need to get things done, to strive not only for excellence, but to become number one. The video I picked was Tom Shannon’s, The Painter and The Pendulum. This short interview was about Tom Shannon who uses an elaborate, but easy set up to paint his masterpieces. Tom created a machine using a pendulum which he referred to as the point between the earth and the sun, a few paint sprayers connected to toy plane motors, and a remote control with sliding dials to paint his pictures.

In it she captured the enormity of her experience with solemn reverence, allowing the endless blackness of the ocean to shroud the entire composition in mystery.” (Messinger 90) Messinger goes on to say that, “Only the bright white spot of light in the distance and the foamy spray of water at the shoreline indicate any sense of spatial recession.” (90) She was a phenomenal technician and her treatment of white is just like that of colors. O’Keeffe was most attracted to things in nature that are boundless, timeless, and eternal; perhaps it is this union with nature she conveys that makes O’Keeffe so beloved as people can relate to her work. They have experienced nature being so beautiful that words can’t describe it; only a representation of an experience can truly express it. O’Keeffe’s Wave Night (Figure 1) is an example of one of her reductive landscapes, in which she paints the simple forms and deep colors of the landscape. Here she uses a palette of deep blues and purples to illustrate a nighttime seascape.
line – A mark created by a pointed tool such as a pencil, pen, or brush moving across a surface. lithography – A printing process that does not involve engraving. Instead, a crayon or other greasy medium is used to draw on a smooth surface such as a stone or plate. Lithography is based on the fact that grease and water repel one another. medium/media (singular/plural) – The material with which an artist works such as ink, bronze, oil paint, or watercolor.
I enjoy anything ranging from self-portraits to wild life and back all the way to architectural photos. Because of this, I decided upon Art; not to be confused with the area of art. Art Wolfe was born on September 13, 1951 in Seattle, Washington (artwolfe.com). Now here comes the funny part. According to Global Gallery, when Wolfe was a young boy, he dreamed of being a famous painter and not a photographer!
