Introduction In this paper, I will briefly discuss a theological view of Christian Leadership. There are four main points that I will bring out. First, topic will be what the Bible teaches about leadership. Second point, is an effective leader is person of sound character. The third point is strong leadership focus is not on the leader but the mission. And the final point is leaders will experience suffering. The Bible and Leadership The Bible instructs us as Christians of numerous things on the quality and nature of leadership for Christian life. Jesus Christ himself exemplifies the true meaning of Christian Leadership. Christ ruled with an authority that no other person possessed. Jesus also, shows us how to first be a servant to the people. One of the key roles of Jesus as a servant is when he washed the feet of his disciples (John 13). The book of John 13:14 Christ clearly makes it known that in order to follow Him we must show a servant love. The ultimate goals for Christian Leadership should be to first love and then serve. Effective Leadership of Sound Character A Christian’s character should be one that is Christ-like. Foundation of a Christian character is based on the relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, the character of a Christian Leader is to be of good integrity, compassionate, honest, faithful, live a life of prayer and supplication, meekness, be humble, and above all be God lead. Having those building blocks and attributes will determine how a person will lead. Furthermore, an effective leader need to be able to control their own emotions. The Mission So often Christian Leaders get so involved in the title and not the purpose of the leadership. To properly lead one must focus on the mission.
