Company Overview: The Casino is located 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver and 15 minutes from the US boarder. Includes over 400 slots, Handful of table games, 12 table poker room, It’s own Racebook and Live harness racing 9 months out of the year. Fraser downs is just one of many casinos owned and operated by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. It’s life cycle would be considered established transnational into expansion. With many projects on the horizon it has yet to grown. Although It can be considered still in it’s younger ages. Great Canadian has approximately 4,600 employees. Growing faster and faster, with two new gaming facilities. The new and revamped Coquitlum casino is about to be the first Canadian Hard Rock casino. Plans of Fraser downs racetrack & casino to be rebranded are near renovations with remodel renders & contractors on deck. This will cause HR to be prepared for recruiting and training a new batch of staff to support the growing casino floor & possible new opportunities arising. Recruitment & Training Procedures: Currently Recruitment & Training is run through the standard company procedure. Applications are accepted via online or walk ins. Assorted to department managers. The department manager reads over the resumes and selects people of interest. The HR administer then calls the candidates and runs a pre screening interview over the phone. Pre screened interviews are recorded on paper and forwarded to the department manager. They then make their selection for an interview. Training varies on which position the candidate is selected for. For example all dealers need no prior card dealing training & immediately start training at the corporate card dealing school. Where as a cash cage / count team / slot attendant will obtain their training from the direct supervisor hands on once their security clearance has cleared and
