Evan Cole March 6, 2012 English 101 Mr. Raines American Opportunities Dinesh D’Souza’s essay “Becoming American” notes three reasons why the American life style is sought after, better standard of living, social freedoms, and an egalitarian society. I agree, America is a land where people create their own destinies, a land where people make their own choices and have near limitless possibilities. D’Souza’s gives his views on how the Americans society is seen by other countries. D’Souza states that most American critics have an easy explanation for why the American idea of living is so captivating. It is simply the ability to make money.
Our country prides itself on encouraging its citizens to better themselves through education. (P) While its priority has been high school graduation, many jobs now require college degrees, making higher education more important than ever. While I understand that every American should be expected to sacrifice during this hard time, just as we were in World War II, I feel that this particular sacrifice would put our country in an even worse state. (S) Our work force will not be prepared to handle nor understand the advancements that we have strived so hard to achieve. College is made to prepare students with the newest information possible, so that we can constantly be improving ourselves and be able continue to compete with the world’s leading nations.
This is the first thing you get as soon as you become an American. That for me is considered a dream for the persecuted. Now beyond this lies desire, which is what society thrives from because it is what our economy is based off of. It is said that you only need food, shelter, and clothing. Dreaming is what America is all about; the beautiful houses, the wealth, the power to control things at your fingertips.
Analyzing and fighting for our American policies and government. Last but not least, we as citizens need to control this economy and see what is really in our pockets. Being an upcoming freshman and a high-school graduate, scholars need to realize the oppurtunity we have to change the world, and have a huge impact in tomorrow’s world. It’s a luxury to have a free education to minorities, and many different physical races, ethnic backgrounds, and of course various religions. On the other hand, the education we as students receive can categorize as a national concern because as a nation we can’t have big percentage drops in tests that challenge our minds for the real world which we will encounter.
Having a college degree makes living the American Dream a lot easier, and it helps you grow as an adult and teaches you leadership roles. Chapter 1 also explains that college is a place for young adults to enjoy life, meet new people, try new things. The reasons most young children are so ready to leave for college. College is Worth the Money Imagine being in kindergarten, walking through the classroom door feeling excited or anxious. It’s the start of an educational career, the spark of someone's dreams for the future. The ideal life plan for kids was to grow up and go to college, now as children or students get older and the costs of college are starting to become more of a reality, some of those kids who were once so invested with the thought of college start to worry about how high the cost is, so what all parents and students are asking, is it really worth it? Going to college is worth the money because it will help one find out what they really want to do in life , it will show them responsibility , and it will better their chances of getting a good,
For the first time teachers are going to be getting paid more, they will finally get a salary in which their line of work calls for. A teacher’s job will no longer be a small town last resort but instead it will be a profession; with that calls for a level of responsibility in the teachers who don’t perform to standard because they have a guaranteed position. College is finally affordable, from raising the maximum Pell Grant to working with schools to settle rising college tuition cost; these are all life-changing improvements. What a breath of fresh air it is to actually see the changes a President talks about. Once again, the visionary, that is, President Barack Obama has brought to Americans what we lacked and needed most; hope.
Online and traditional educations are ways that people can receive a good education. Whichever educational path students chose they will have a good chance of getting a good education, and also a better paying job from either one. Both schools offer the same educational goals and it then comes down to the student’s choice. Getting a better education means that people are able to afford themselves better job opportunities. In today’s world you almost need a college education for most jobs offered on- the- job market.
As today, the economy growth in the world is becoming more competitive so a college education is extremely important. In addition, by adopting the importance of college education, there seem to have many opportunities in working life, better social interaction among new friends and ways to lead an independent life for a college student. First, a college education provides a lot of opportunities for a student in their working life, especially for higher paid jobs in their future. David D M (2009) asserts that according to the U.S. Department of Labour, 90 percent of the fastest-growing jobs of the future will require some post-secondary education (Degree) or training. Furthermore, students will get the chances to get a higher paid job in a company if they pursue their studies in a college till a Degree programme is achieved.
It also demonstrates that you have the will to finish what is started and always seeking personal enhancement, completing the task at hand. College graduates make more money in the long run, so it pays to get an education. A college degree will give me a sense of accomplishment and pride knowing that I tackled the challenge that I started 20 years ago and became victorious. It will open a variety of opportunities once my life in the military comes to an end and I transfer to civilian life. Having a college degree will give my family security in the future so I can keep providing them the life they deserve.
