He is always scheming ways of making money, from the failed iron scrap attempt—which took an entire summer, yielded a net loss of one dollar, not counting the destruction of borrowed equipment, and almost killed Sonny—to the profitable harvesting of ginseng. Sherman Siers: has a physically weakened left leg as a result of polio, but does not let it slow him down. He is also the most observant and practical member of the team. Roy Lee Cooke is Sonny's best friend. He teaches Sonny something about girls.
A new boy called James Scobie becomes a target for bullying because of his appearance. However, James responds to the bully's taunts with humour. He tells the class that he is fearless because he had a brain tumour that damaged the part of his brain that feels fear. Barry is the only person that does not believe James. About a week later Barry puts a lot of insects and spiders in James's desk, but James is not frightened.
Cherry is smart and dreamy like Ponyboy, and they have a good conversation. Seven Excerpt Responses “You cant win against them no matter how hard you try because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn't going to change the fact.” Chapter 1, Page 11 In this scene in the story, Ponyboy is asking His older brother Darry if he can participate int he gang rumble. Ponyboy recently got hurt in a church fire so Darry thinks it would be good for him to stay out of the fight but Ponyboy still really wants to. I think this excerpt is important to the story because it shows how daring and how Darry is telling Ponyboy with all mighty. It is a form of hyperbole because it is exaggerating what is going to happen.
“Raymond’s Run” By; Nikki Gerald The beginning of “Raymond’s Run" on the page 34 is the exposition. In the text on page 34 line 14 it says “I am a girl with skinny arms and a squeaky voice.” The exposition is the part in a story where you meet all the characters and the setting. Here we meet Squeaky. Also in the text on page 34 line 6 it says “sometimes I slip and say little brother Raymond. But as any fool can see he’s much bigger and much older too... if anyone has something to say about his big head, they have to come by me.” Here we meet Raymond, Squeaky’s big brother.

If you want to stay alive, you have to say that stuff, though." This is Holden being a “phony” himself. Holden hates phonies, he really does. He hates them so much; one time he even left a school for it, because it was full of "phonies" or that is what he says at least. Then, what is he doing in this last quote?

I hate the way you were being sexist here. When people see this part of the article, many women or girls would be deranged. I know I am definitely furious. I don’t think anyone- even if they are desperate- would even sleep with their sister. As I still continue to read the ignorant article, I come towards the abusive language when you comment and say “there are so many of the bastards”.
My husband was very abusive, both emotionally and physically. When I would be at work I was very good at hiding my emotions and always had a smile on my face. I was raised in a family that valued good morals and loyalty. I believed that I had made this choice to get married and have a family so it was my responsibility to stay in this marriage and make it work no matter how bad it was. I was young and immature and was having to grow up way to fast.
I also think that however different individual fathers may be all share one powerful, vital aspect: The love for their child. Even though a 16th century father would be very different to a modern father, I should think that both possess this quality of love. Prospero seems a loving man, dedicated to his daughter, Miranda and would give anything to make her happy. When telling Miranda about her past, Prospero describes her as a “Cheribin” that made him truly happy. In dark, dreary times it was Miranda, who kept Prospero going, she did “Preserve” him.
