The generosity mentioned was Jack’s generosity towards the boys to get them on his side. He grinned because of the applause the boys gave him for what he said. It made him feel accepted by the boys, which was the feeling that he longed for. As previously stated, Jack has a desire to power over everyone on the island. He wants control over them, but most importantly, Jack wants the boys to recognize and accept him as their leader.
he's motivation was to keep everyone safe, and stick threw it till the end. Ralph not only is a hero, but truely the only optimistic person threw out the story. The other children of the island elect him as the leader of the island because of he took control and tried to bring order amunst the others. examples of ralphs attempts to bring order to the island include, the conch shell, piggies glasses, buliding huts, fire, and establishing roles for the other islanders. when the boys first arive on the island, Ralph finds a conch shell that he uses to not only bring order, but to gather everyone that survived together.
This trait can certainly be beneficial at times, but it can also harm him, too. For example, he is always a trustworthy person due to his inability to lie. When someone needs to know exactly what has happened, Christopher is the person they should be more likely to go to. On the other hand, Christopher has a tough time keeping secrets and tricking people. All someone had to do was ask him, and he couldn’t possibly lie to that person.
He’s also very spiritual and believes that there could be a bad spirit/curse on the island, that the island is alive and haunting them. However he is the calmest of the four potential leaders. In the end I believe that Ralph would be the best choice of leader for the group of boys on the island as he has more going for him, and less against him. His wide range of abilities set him apart from the others as the best candidate for
In the novel, Ralph represents order and productive leadership. Also, Ralph fulfills the insecure feelings the boys have at the beginning of the book by influencing his own ambition unto them so that they feel the comfort of shelter and hope of rescue. One of Ralph’s strengths, although it also becomes one of his weaknesses later on is
Arthur’s anti-war beliefs are a result of his proper education as a child. Arthur as a child, young Wart, lived in a blissful environment which then shaped his super ego. A super ego that was full of supernatural adventures that gave him the absolute “essence of education” (White 46). Wart’s mentor, Merlyn, emphasizes within the young boy’s education the “wickedness of war” (White 232). Warts educational experience further accentuates the indication of an anti-war society when he visits the geese society, for example, facing first-hand the ways of a Utopian society.
Ralph is a responsible leader, caring for each and every one of the boys in these two chapters. When he was first elected chief in chapter one, he assumes his responsibilities right away. Ralph said " If this is an island, we might be rescued straight away. Everybody must stay round here and wait and not go away. Thee of us- if we ....." From what Ralph said, I learnt that he was trying to deal things in a responsible manner, putting things into order, by first making sure that the place where the boys were in was an island.
This makes him more of a well respected leader because of how he handles his behaviors and showing his tribe how strong minded he is and how he will hold his ground if something bad were to ever happen. A leader should not care what others think about him because it impairs his decision- making and judgment. In Lord of The Flies, Ralph has a different style of leadership from the other boys. Ralph is a moral leader who is liked by many people. However, Ralph doesn't realize that to be a good leader, one must separate himself from the average person.
He understands their fears and helps the boys to overcome them by making them stronger. A democratic society may seem fair for everyone concerned but in the end, Jack ends up winning. With his totalitarian leadership, he was able to organize the group into a useful and productive society and ends up getting them rescued by setting the island on
Compared to Jack and Ralph the boys in today’s society would be the little ones. Their relentless leadership skills shown through the whole book. I feel that if you read any book about leaders it will show the many characteristics that a leader should show and some things a leader shouldn’t show to his people. Jack, would be the dictator, relentless, starving for power, looking for solutions right away not concerned with the long term effects. As for Ralph, he is the parliamentary king, he knows what is best for the long run, even if the short run is rough.
