When teens drive after drinking alcohol, they are more likely than adults to be involved in a car accident, even when driving less alcohol than adults. (Times, 2007) Speeding is another cause of fatal car accidents among teens. (Times, 2007) When late for school, an event, or even for curfew, speeding seems like a quick and easy idea to fix the problem. But the real problem is speeding is very dangerous. Teens do not realize the danger of speeding.
At first glance, it seems like a good idea to have the driving age raised to eighteen, but it is not as beneficial as it seems. Nationally, about forty percent of American teen deaths are from motor vehicle crashes, making them a major concern for parents and teens alike, but raising the driving age won’t fix this, and it could actually make this statistic worse. There are good reasons as to why the driving age should not be raised: it is inexperience not young age that causes crashes, parents of minors are allowed to deny their children licenses or permits, and raising the driving age would make it harder to get drivers proper training. It is true that the risk of crashing is higher for the sixteen to eighteen age group than any other. This is the main reason that a lot of people want to have the driving age raised.
Problem/Solution Essay One of the biggest problems facing teenagers today is the fact that they tend to ignore a lot of responsibilities,such as safe driving. Teens are the most unsafe group of drivers on the road. For teenagers; car accidents is their leading cause of death in the US. Some reports say that teens account for only 2% of all drivers, but they are responsible for more than 10% of all traffic accidents. A large portion of those accidents happen when one vehicle hits a wall, tree, or even slides off the side of the road, this shows that the cause is reckless driving.
Every teens dream is to be able to drive his or her own car! I’m one kid who wants to drive at 16; but some people want to change the driving age to 17, even 18. Driving can be a rite of passage for some kids. It gives teens some freedom; it lets them help their parents out when needed, and gives them their own space! The driving age should stay at 16 in Washington State for a number of reasons.

I have been directed by my academic advisor to attend the mandatory training meeting this December 2015 to apply for the August 2016-2017 training year. In the fall of 2017, I will also be studying to take my Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE) prior to my graduation which is required in order to graduate from the program. If everything goes according to plan, I intend to take my NCE exam in the fall of 2019 following my 3200 hours of required supervision. I hope to be fully licensed shortly
The drinking age should not be lowered because seniors in high school can contribute to the underage fourteen to seventeen year olds’ desires to experiment with alcohol. There is a reason these laws are put into place. Laws are like safeguards for us, a type of protection from ourselves. It is important that drinking is done responsibly. Frankly, teenagers do not have the capacity to drink responsibly.
It may prevent the use for a little while, but once they have a chance to use drugs without getting caught, they will take it. It is said that the drug testing might prevent students from drug use, but really, students are just finding the drugs that get out of their system faster. They may do a drug such as cocaine that gets out of the system in three days and take it Friday after school, leaving plenty of time for it to be removed from the system by Monday. Students are also turning to drinking more since that gets out of the system the fastest. Students may drink on Friday and Saturday and still be clean if they were to get tested that Monday.

In many states the driving age is usually around fifteen or sixteen. What many do not realize is that allowing adolescents to drive at such an early age can be fatal. These young drivers tend to make bad decisions behind the wheel. Many teenage drivers are not as responsible as they should be out on the road which is why the driving age should be raised to 18 years old.
Having a car is one of the biggest responsibilities for a teenager. You have to pay for gas, insurance, maintenance, and many other things. This will usually force teens to get a job and start being smart with the way they spend the money that they work hard for. I was one of the luckier teens that didn’t have to pay for anything except for gas. I didn’t become responsible from paying car payments but I did learn responsibility from driving the car around and knowing what things I need to watch out for such as, checking the oil and the anti-freeze.
