Christian parents face just as many obstacles as non-Christians in raising kids. When you add all the distractions and the pressures in today's world, Christian parenting becomes even more than a challenge. A huge part of that challenge is passing on our faith to our children. Today's kids face an overall absence of godly examples and moral living in today’s society. They are bombarded by peer pressure and media pressure to focus on video games, sporting events, alcohol and latest trends in fashion. However, the good news is that there are things we can do to raise Godly kids even in an ungodly society. Children are gifts from God, blessings to the family and society. That’s why God’s Word says: Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm 127:3). But children are like plasticine — soft, pliable and mouldable. They must be moulded skilfully and tenderly to become battle axes in the hands of God. The best environment for raising godly children is “the home” that is why the atmosphere parents/carers create in the home is very important. In this edition I will mention some of the vital things we can do as parents/carers to raise our children to know and love the Lord which will help them to become committed to serving Him for the rest of their lives. Firstly, as christian parents/carers we should love our children, since God Himself expresses His love for us through His Word. When we relate to our children in love, it makes it easy for them to know and understand God’s nature, which is love, and walk in it. We should develop a relationship of mutual trust with our children in the process of caring for them and meeting their physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological needs. We should encourage and say complimentary words to them as often as possible to build their self esteem and confidence. We should remember
