Environmental Values Rebecca Wallace September 25th, 2014 SCI/362SCI/362 Instructor: Gretchen Messier When it comes to the environment there are values individuals have for the ethical point of view for a better living environment. Individuals form their environmental ethics to have the knownledge of the environmental impact. There are methods used for individuals to understand the involvement of environmental issues for reconsideratio of his or her values of the environmental issues. The ethical systems are used and identify for the eenvironmental impacts of the affects on society. Irrigation had many uses, such as trade routs and the transfer of silt-bearing water for agriculture. Irrigation had its good and bad qualities. There were advantages and complications with the use of irrigation economically, politically, and environmentally in the ancient world. Technologically, irrigation was a problem and a blessing. One of it’s problems was the square-pallet chain pump.
(http://water.epa.gov/lawsregs/lawsguidance/cwa/tmdl/glossary.cfm#section303d) Water quality research is very important to our society. This will help us protect our nations water systems, help us achieve a total maximum daily load of waste allocations on pollution. This will help sustain the ecological processes to support vegetation, fish populations, birdlife and our wetlands. (http://water.epa.gov/scitech/swguidance/standards/imp.cfm) The reason why this experiment is being done is to test my water system, and to determine the quality for life. The more we know about our water the better off we will be.
Answer to DBQ People in early civilizations like Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Indus Valley, depended a lot in the physical environment that surrounded them. Many of these civilizations developed near rivers, because they can be great water resources and also they can provide silt for crops when they flood. Rivers not only provide silt and water for the natives but it can be a great way of transportation. Transportation later could lead to trade, a great way of expanding ideas and learning more about other countries. Even though the climate in these areas may be a little arid, the river keeps the people with water and provides them what they need in order to create a society and living with happiness.
NGOs usually focus in developing countries, where many are in poverty have very little basic resources if any. They usually vary on small local projects e.g. clean water from the ground and ensuring it is safe to drink. According to WaterAid, their strategy is to promote and secure people’s rights and access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation. In Bangladesh, the wells were poisoned making the water contaminated and dangerous to drink.
It is the process of using environmental information in decision making. It is a means of improving the organizational ability to deal with a rapidly changing environment” (p. 3). Mission Statement, Vision , Value Statements A mission statement for any corporation is to establish the company’s identity and purpose for competing in that specific industry. In addition, the empire also developed the transportation of water throughout the city through the construction of aqueducts, which were canals. Likewise, the Han Dynasty made advancements in the distribution of water: there were water ways, canals, and pools that were inspected by hydraulic engineers. Water was also used to power a blowing-engine. Because of the advancements that were made, the Han Dynasty is regarded by historians as the “Golden Age.” Similarly, the Romans created a large empire that stretched from Europe to the Middle East. Because of the vastness of both empires, water and technology were heavily relied upon, yet unlike the Han officials, the upper-class Romans had a negative attitude towards technology.
This was a similarity between Egypt and Mesopotamia because during this time period people relied on water for many things such as drinking, bathing and most importantly for keeping their land fertile. They relied on this fertile land to grow their own food. Not everyone had easy access to the river. Therefore these civilizations build irrigational systems to carry out water for everyone to access it. Despite these similarities, Egypt had greater differences with Mesopotamia.
Energy Planning Proposal Carlos Santos SCI/362 December 9, 2014 Dr. Roger King Energy Planning Proposal Energy has become an essential element in the modern world. After water is the most demand part in our lives. Energy is necessary to perform everyday activities from the light to the electronics that we used at work and home. This energy could be obtained in different ways but is essential that we used environmental friendly energy. Why environmental friendly energy?
This can cause unforeseen economic and ecologic problems that may be irreversible. Farming must be improved to make it more environmentally friendly, and fishing needs to be done on a sustainable
