Archaeology is the study of the human past, combining the themes of time and change. It is our way of going back in time to explore the events that took place during the various time periods. By watching Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Hollywood portrayed different aspects of archaeology to give viewers an idea of what some of the basic theories are. Archaeology is further explained as well in the text Images of the Past by T. Douglas Price in which the author explains the history behind this topic as well as the main components that it consists of. The plot of this movie begins with Jones finding out that Nazis are going after a religious chest which contains the Ten Commandments with the motive of trying to hold a great amount of power. Jones then teams up with his former lover, Marion, to try and combat the Nazis and to seize the Ark for them. Jones ends up finding the Ark in a secret chamber underground, but is confronted by the Nazis and they seize the Ark for their keeping. In the end, the power overwhelms the Nazis and they are eliminated by the spirits of the Ark and in turn, Marion and Jones bring the Ark back to the United States where the government stores it away for safekeeping.…show more content…
Jones went through, my definition of anthropology is studying various events that took place in the past and seeing its evolution throughout time. It requires putting together pieces of details to figure out what the big picture is and its relevance to history and society as a whole. It also involves discovering various archaeological sites and analyzing the different things that could potentially be significant to spend time on.
