The Battle of the Alamo took place between February 23 and March 6, 1836. The battle consisted of a thirteen day siege proceeding an all out attack from the Alamo Mission near what is now San Antonio, Texas. The battle left an estimated 300 of the Mexican forces killed or wounded and just two of the Republic of Texas surviving. I believe that this battle really helped to cement the idea of secession into the minds of the Texians and pushed them to revolt. President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, the president of Mexico at the time, started to move the governmental system of Mexico towards a dictatorship.
He was involved in many raids on the English occupiers and he avenged his father’s death by killing the English knight Fenwick. By 1297 the English occupation of Scotland was much weaker and the resentment of the Scottish people had grown. At this time William became a national hero when he killed the English sheriff of Lanark after the sheriff had tried to capture

The battle of Celaya, which occurred from april 6-15 in 1915, would be one of the bloodiest battles of the revolution in which Villa was defeated. The United States, shortly after, would recognize Venustiano Carranza as the President of Mexico. Outraged with the betrayal of the United States, Villa would invade US soil in Columbus Ohio, and once again, would be defeated by US troops. For years to come, Villa would continue to build his army but never again regained the power he once had. In 1923 Villa was assassinated in the back seat of his car. Zapata, on the other hand, was also defeated and was also betrayed.
Through the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, many civilizations across the globe documented and recorded primary sources declaring the almightiness off a dominant man known as Octavian Caesar. Being the nephew of the notorious Julius Caesar, Octavian finds himself being put into political power after the historical murder of his uncle, thus being obligated to finish and win the civil war previously started by his dear Uncle Julius. After countless warfare victories throughout the remainder of this civil war, Rome would come to encounter the sole rule of one man; Octavian Caesar. Through his sole rule, Octavian became the first Emperor of Rome, ultimately gaining the renowned name, Augustus. With his new name, Augustus would proceed to write his own conceited “deeds” called none other than “Deeds of the Divine Augustus” .
Grace Strandoo Language Arts, 10-2 January 22, 2013 Sacrifices Made by Las Mariposas Rafael Trujillo, commonly nicknamed El Jefe (The Boss), governed the Dominican Republic from 1930 up until his assassination in 1961. Trujillo was only formally president from 1930 to 1938 and from 1942 to 1952; he sustained unqualified power as a military strongman, with puppet presidents taken from his ring of family and close friends. During his regime, Trujillo authorized the killing of thousands of Haitians, who were trying to cross the border. In a time of such darkness for this country an underground revolution was started. The Mirabal sisters played a prominent role in the revolution.
Then in 1930 Trujillo ran against Horocio Vasquez for presidency, and fraudulently claimed ninety five percent of the votes. Once he was placed in power in 1931, he used The National Guard to terrorize and banished all civilian opponents (persons who were against him). Although the was a dictator, the also made some good changes to the country like, an increases on exports , the abolition of the 1905 treaty which gave the U.S control of the Dominican custom houses, and also, by 1947 the
82 B.C. It was Julius Caesar of the Roman Empire that started the seemingly endless war between the mythic creatures of Dacia and the humans of Rome. 86 A.D. I as general led the militia to ravage Moesia and kill their worthless governor. My first battle.
They have been conquered twice in the last 30 years each by governments the countrymen hated and still blood is shed every day in wars between the U.S and the Taliban or Al Qaeda. In the novel, the theme of violence is inter-related with the theme of betrayal. For example, when Amir fails to stand up and protect Hassan and, in essence, betrays him, a violent scene of rape and torture follows. Furthermore, just before Hassan is raped, another violent image is shown through kite fighting itself. The kites battle for supremacy as do the children below who are flying them.
He who commits injustice is ever made more wretched than he who suffers it. -Plato Over a half century ago, in the early morning hours of August 19, 1953, the United States successfully launched it’s first clandestine peacetime CIA sponsored overthrow of a sovereign nation. The Iranian coup d’etat deposed the first, and last, “ popular, democratically oriented government to hold office in Iran” (http://iran.sa.utoronto.ca/coup/web_files/markcoup.html). The regime that replaced the popular Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh was a dictatorship led by Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, a ruthless tyrant whose oppressive rule lasted for the next 25 years. It is believed that his policies produced the tensions that led to the 1978-1979 Iranian revolution as well as laying the groundwork for the profound anti-American sentiment and the rise of the Islamic Fundamentalists and the multiple
