One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land.”{Martin Luther King “I Have A Dream Speech} These deep and heartfelt words were spoken by a man we today honor for being best known as an iconic figure during the civil rights movements all while using nonviolent methods.   No matter where you are and what century it is, everyone at some point in time will either fill misplaced or have ill feelings towards another. Whether it is at work, church, stores and even school, we at some point in time will feel prejudice towards someone else for an unknown reason. To satisfy the requirements of this paper, I will answer the proposed question “In terms of racial equality in America, what, if any role should government play to ensure equality of Opportunity? What, if any, role should it play to ensure equality of outcome?” These questions can cause a stir even in today’s society. To answer these questions we must first find and get to the root of the problem. Secondly, we must make changes amongst ourselves and our ways of thinking.
No matter the way we are raised, and our values that were instilled in us,   there will be a time when will unintentionally look down upon or be discriminate against another person. Being born and raised in a small town, knowing one whom was homeless was unknown. Once I made a transition to higher learning, surrounded in a bigger city, seeing these homeless people asking for money and carrying themselves in such filth was a total cultural shock for myself. Yes, I was born and raised in a church and knew that we should love all our people and help...
