- Yeah!- Now that's a messy story. No. It's a love story. Lucifer! Stop hogging the mirror!
Many men fell for this and in my opinion she became very powerful in a sense. I believe Cathy was a very selfish character. While reading East of Eden I thought that she might have had mental problems. I was furious that she tried to kill her baby and later on lied about why say tried to do such a thing. Then when she gave birth to her twins sons, she acted as if she did not want them and I believe that Cathy was selfish was because she shot her husband in the shoulder.
'I do believe the creatures both are mad, one lately crazed, the other from her birth' (Sophocles 141) In this quote Creon is calling both Antigone and Iseme crazy for feeling sorrow for their brothers death. This displays hubris because he is being ignorant as he is filled with excessive pride. Creon was so insolent towards the two sisters tjay he didn't even understand that they lost a member of their own flesh and blood. Creon also portrays hubris toward the blind prophet. “Do you forget to whom you say it?” (Sophocles, 154) In this quote Creon is asking Teiresias If he forgets who he is talking to. Creon shows hubris because he asks this to Teiresias because he is king and has excessive pride.
So I asked a few people, who uses this word so freely. Why must we be directed this way? Friend or not I should not be your Bitch. I was told that some woman are called the B-word because they are belligerent, unreasonable, malicious, rudely intrusive, unpleasant and hard to get along with. Does that make it okay to call me a Bitch?
Tell them I confessed myself; say Proctor broke to his knees and wept like a woman; say what you will, but my name cannot-“ Danforth, with suspicion: “It is the same, is it not? If I report it or you sign to it... Why? Do you mean to deny this confession when you are free?” Proctor: “I mean to deny nothing!” Danforth: “Then explain to me, Mr. Proctor, why will not let-“ Proctor, with a cry of his whole soul: “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies!
!” “Would you just shut up woman?!? If you hate it so much then jump overboard or something! No one enjoys hearing a woman nagging even though she decided to come along! You’re lucky we even let you on
Eric: (sulkily) Well, we don't need to tell the inspector all about that, do we? Birling: I don't see we need to tell the inspector anything more. In fact, there's nothing I can tell him. I told the girl to clear out, and she went. That's the last I heard of her.
A cause for concern in Tis Pity is that Giovanni’s actions are not condemned. It is presented by Ford to be a “tumultuous passion that brings about his destruction” according to the critic Mark Stavig. His passions are inescapable it seems and so he cannot be held accountable for his drastic actions. Conversely, because of Annabella’s position as a woman, she is consciously aware of her own fate and knows that if their incestuous relationship was to carry on further, harsh repercussions would occur. The Friar tries to dissuade Giovanni from commencing the relationship despite there being little effect from his words.
Especially when she reminisces in the final stanza about the time she was young and beautiful, illustrating her complete lack of confidence. Nevertheless, she is still presented as a foul character who threatens the reader, with the line ‘Be terrified’. The poem also ends with the line ‘Look at me now’ which has a double entendre (double meaning). It could be read as a cry of despair or, as a threat – if you did look at Medusa you would die! This leaves the reader feeling conflicting emotions for the character, probably similar to how Medusa herself feels in the poem.
“Why are you scared? You hate her, and you’re finally getting to tell her how much you don’t want to be friends, what’s up?” My best friend had said to me patting my back to calm me down. “I’m terrified of her, she used me and manipulated me in the worst ways, messing with my mind. She made me think I was absolutely worthless and that I meant nothing. She claimed that she was the only person in the world that cared about me.
