Robert Owen was born on the 14th May 1771. His father sent him to work at a drapery in Lincolnshire at the age of ten. He spent three years in Stamford but then moved to London. He stayed in that job until 1787 when he found work at a large drapery in Manchester. He was in Manchester when he heard about the success Richard Arkwright was having at a textile factory in Cromford.

The Life of Amerigo Vespucci Amerigo Vespucci was born March 9, 1451 to Nastagio Amarigho Vespucci and Elizabeth Giovanni Vespucci, although this date had been largely contested for many years. Amerigo was the third of their six children. The Vespucci family was one of the most respected families in Florence at that time, and was quite influential throughout Florence. Americo was educated by his uncle Guido Antonio Vespucci, who was an ambassador to Florence under King Louis XI of France. Uncle Guido was also a canon, scholar, and a collector of manuscripts, who also happened to own a library.

Andrew Carnegie, whose life became a rags-to-riches story, was born into modest circumstances on November 25, 1835, in Dunfermline, Scotland, the second of two sons of Will, a handloom weaver, and Margaret, who did sewing work for local shoemakers. In 1848, the Carnegie family (who pronounced their name “carNEgie”) moved to America in search of better economic opportunities and settled in Allegheny City (now part of Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania. Andrew Carnegie, whose formal education ended when he left Scotland, where he had no more than a few years’ schooling, soon found employment as a bobbin boy at a cotton factory, earning $1.20 a week. He was in search of a partner and approached a friend of his named Isaac Dewhirst. This friend declined but directed him to his cashier named Thomas Spencer. Thomas Spencer invested 300pounds in the company and brought labour in organisation and contacts amongst manufacturers into the fledgling business. They later built a warehouse and registered it as their first headquarters. Thomas Spencer retired in 1903 and died two years after and also his partner died on the 31th of December 1907; just two years later.
Early Life Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571 which was also the same day as feast day of St. John the Evangelist. Sebald Kepler his grandfather had been mayor of the town but, when Johannes was born the family fortune was in a steep incline. Kepler had two brothers and one sister. His father who was Heinrich Kepler was a mercenary who left Johannes when he was only five years old. He was said that he died in the Eighty Years’ War in the Netherlands.
George Washington was born into a wealthy planter family that owned tobacco plantations and slaves that he inherited later in his life. Washington owned hundreds of slaves throughout his lifetime, but his views on slavery evolved. He soon realized how bad slavery was and he in turn wrote in his will that after his wife had died that all the slaves he owned are to be released. After his father and older brother died when he was young he became personally and professionally attached to William Fairfax, who introduced his career as a surveyor and soldier. Washington quickly became a senior officer in the colonial forces during the first stages of the French and Indian War.
