Unit 6 Assignment Qualities for Personnel and Voice Mail System Kristi Van Eaton Kaplan University AB221-02 September 30, 2013 Qualities for Personnel On Time Technologies has several positions open that need to be filled. These positions are receptionist, CSR, virtual assistant, and telemarketer. There are several qualities and skills that candidates need to have to be considered for these positions. Oral skills are essential to these positions as they will be directly communicating with customers. Candidates must have a pleasant voice because greetings set the stage and listeners tend to respond in the same way they are greeted (Gibson-Odgers, 2012). Candidates must be courteous to each caller. Even though they may say the same thing 100 times in a day, it may be the first time for a caller to hear it. They must remain patient and polite with each customer. Candidates must also have a good vocabulary and avoid using jargon or slang. This will help them to present themselves in a professional manner, as well as make their communication clear and understandable for callers. In addition, candidates must also dress in a professional manner. Gentlemen and ladies must not have tattoos, nor body piercings. They must understand that they represent the company and must strive to not offend customers with dress and appearance (Gibson-Odgers, 2012). Women must avoid clothing that reveals cleavage and see-through fabrics. Men must have clean shaven faces or keep their facial hair trimmed and neatly groomed. No facial hair is preferred, for some may associate facial hair with mistrust, as someone trying to hide something. Also, candidates must be aware and respectful of cultural differences, as the marketplace continues to become more global. They must pay attention to their body language and other non-verbal communication. According to Gibson
