Paige Parry Know how to recognise the signs of abuse. 1.1, 1.2 Physical Abuse Physical abuse is when the use of physical force is used against someone that could course injuries. Also inappropriate use of drugs, physical restraints without reason, force feeding, hitting, scratching and physically hurting someone is physical abuse. Signs and Symptoms of Physical abuse; Hitting, slapping, pushing, rough handling, scratching, restraining without reason, all types of assaults, multiple bruising, fractures, burns, bedsores, fear, depression and unexplained weight loss. The local authorities will inform the CQC but it is also the home manager’s job to do so. The CQC would be automatically involved when there is an incident that involves one of more service users. The CQC will decide on any steps that need to go further to protect the service user/users. Crown Prosecution Service (CSP) The CPS is the principal public prosecution service for England and Wales. The CPS has produced a policy on prosecuting crimes against older people and vulnerable adults. The CPS has a key role to play in making sure that special measures are put in place to protect vulnerable adults.
