Push and pull factors of the western migration. A push factor is the reason someone would leave somewhere. A pull factor is the reason someone would stay somewhere. There are many push and pull factors of migration to the west. Migration means to move from somewhere to another place. There are many push and pull factors for western migration. There were many push factors for western migration. One of the biggest reasons for western migration was that the land in the east was so expensive. Land was so expensive in the east but the land in the west was basically free. If you migrated to the west and stayed on certain land for 5 years it would be yours for free. Another push factor for western migration was the overcrowding population. There were so many people in the east that there was not a lot of space for farming. There were too many overcrowded cities. Those are some push factors of western migration. There were also many pull factors for western migration. A big pull factor for western migration is that the land was basically free. The land in the east was so expensive but land in the west was free. If you stay on certain land in the west for 5 years you can have it for free. Another pull factor was the railroad expansion to the west. With the railroad expansion to the west means that people don’t have to travel by wagon which is extremely dangerous. Those are some pull factors for western migration. Therefore, there are many push and pull factors for western migration.
