Collaborative Essay Public and private schools are both educational institutions that shape students values. Both of them have the same mission or goal; to teach, develop and improve the skills of the students in different aspects. These are the common similarities of the two types of schools. A lot of controversy has been raised over public schooling versus private schooling. Much debate has been made about the advantages and disadvantages of public and private schools. However, the choice lies with the parents of school age children. Many aspects must be reviewed before a choice can be made. These aspects include effectiveness of both types of school systems, religious background, proper funding, personal educational beliefs, and racial integration as well as many others Public schools are an icon of America, with a large majority of students attending them. With such a large pool of schools, it is easy to look at the most underperforming schools and conclude that the public school system is flawed and failing our students. However, there are numerous triumphs of public education. Most notable of these successes comes from public education’s easy access, diversity, and accommodations. Public schools have to serve every child in a community. They don't get to cherry-pick only the brightest or wealthiest students. Attend a public school, and you're getting to know people from every corner of your community, not just people of the same religion or social class. In public school, you're part of the, well, public. Public education offers every child in the community a chance at an education. While too many children remain limited in their ability to take full advantage of that opportunity due to circumstances at home, it's important to me -- and ought to be important to you -- that those opportunities remain available to all.
