Walter Wiggins McAbee ENG 101-26 November 8, 2012 “Public School Better Than Private School” When it comes down to education parents only wants what best for their children. Many parents, teachers and students have long argued about which is better. Most commonly argued is public schooling over private or vice a versa. According to Ellen B. Goldring and Kristic J.R. Phillips in “Parent preferences and parent choices: the public - private decision about school choice” “One of the most important ways in which parents are involved in their children's education is through choosing the school they attend.” (1) Many people argue that there is a major difference between the two, but their focus it to spread knowledge so that children can be better educated and successful. However, both schools see the big picture at hand, but go about painting it in different ways. Public schools stand out more because of their different approaches in tuition, academics, and diversity. When you hear the word private you think of secret. Private schools are not so secret, their just open to a selected or unique individuals. First we begin with tuition, because there is a fee to attend. Many private schools are extremely expensive, but others argue it is for a greater good in the end. On average, private school students perform better in many areas like: standardized test scores, graduation rates, and the percentage of college acceptances are higher than their public school friends.
