Psychology and life! - By Thaha Adamjee “Everything that we do springs from two motives; the sex urge and the desire to be great.” The above statement was made by one of the world’s most distinguished psychologists of the twentieth century, Dr. Sigmund Freud. It clearly shows the core desires behind a particular initiative or activity for that matter. Psychology has scraped its way to being an interesting and evoking subject in the world. What does it mean? Psychology is the science of mind and behavior, in other words – the art of the human mind, how it thinks, reacts and responds. If one takes life in general, it may be right to believe that life is a series of thoughts. Wherever you are today, whatever you’re doing and whatever your plans are; all of these have undergone a thinking process and automatically, whether we study the subject or not, in reality, we are but victims of psychology. Life and psychology are intertwined, the main reason being the influence of thoughts in our lives. Therefore, it never is a waste of time to read or study the subject of psychology. Of all the occurrences; right and wrong, good and bad, weak and strong that take place in the world, spur from the science of thought. This thought has the power to move the world which was why Archimedes once said, "Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth." What was it that made the Great Archimedes so confident? It was undoubtedly the power of his thoughts that was blended with the golden knowledge that he possessed for he was aware of where his thoughts could take him. This is just one aspect of how influencing psychology can be in our lives. The famous Dale Carnegie who has changed many a person’s life by way of his sound knowledge of winning friends and influencing people has clearly construed the art
